Idioms,as an important part of modern Chinese vocabulary system,not only show rich connotations and vivid images,but also reflect distinct national characteristics and unique cultural charm.When at the advanced level,foreign students will get in touch with a lot of idioms to learn.As to textbook,it is not only the most direct material for foreign students to learn idioms,but also is the teaching basis for teachers.Therefore,we should pay full attention to the preparation of idioms compiled in the textbooks.This thesis classifies and counts the idioms showed in the following two sets of representative advanced textbooks--Developing Chinese· Advanced Reading Course and Advanced Chinese Reading Course as the research object,also makes a comparative analysis of the distribution quantity of idioms,the number of repetitions,the situation of annotation and the setting of exercises in the two sets of textbooks.Based on the results of comparative analysis,some problems in the compilation of idioms in advanced Chinese reading textbooks are found,so some suggestions are put forward according to the problems in the compilation of idioms in the textbooks.The thesis is divided into six chapters.The first chapter introduces the reasons for the selection of the topic,the research status,the research methods,the selection of teaching materials and the classification criteria of the idioms.The second chapter compares the distribution quantity and the number of repetitions of the idioms in the textbook.The third chapter makes a comparative analysis of the translation accuracy and practice arrangements of idioms in textbooks.The fourth chapter comes up with some problems based on the previous research results on the idioms in the advanced Chinese reading textbooks,they are the concentration of the collection,the uneven distribution,too many words beyond the teaching syllabus and the few same selection for idioms in this two textbooks.As for the recurrences,it shows low number of recurrences.As for the translation of idioms,it shows more random for emotional color annotation,less annotation for idiom category,and unspecified explanation.As for practice arrangements,it shows single practice type.According to the problems presented in the fourth chapter,the fifth chapter proposed that the selection of idioms should focus on practicality,the number of idioms to reproduce should be increase,the idioms annotation should be detailed and the exercises should be rich and comprehensive.The sixth chapter concludes and points out the shortcomings of the paper.
