As the main channel of Chinese language teaching and Chinese culture communication,Chinese international education plays an important role in building China’s national image.As the main text carrier of Chinese international education,the contents of Chinese textbooks,including the topic of the text,the shaping of characters,the expansion of exercises,the selection of words,the annotation and even the selection of illustrations,all play a subtle role in shaping the national image of China.The users of textbooks--foreign Chinese learners,after learning and mastering Chinese knowledge and culture,will inevitably spread them out.Therefore,in order to ensure that our target language culture can be effectively spread out without serious distortion,we must pay attention to it from the beginning of information output,that is,from the design of textbook content.The research object of this paper is the two volumes of the advanced reading textbook of developing Chinese.The problem to be studied is to analyze the situation of building China’s national image through the selection of materials,attitude orientation and international relations framework.This paper discusses the needs of advanced Chinese learners for learning the national image in the reading materials,and finally,through the case study of the series of advanced reading materials named "developing Chinese",gives some Suggestions on how to improve the compilation of the teaching materials and how to use the teaching materials by Chinese teachers.The research idea of this paper is based on the combination of Chinese international education and the building and dissemination of China’s national image.Chinese textbooks are selected as the carrier of national image,and the carrier scope is further narrowed to focus on the advanced reading textbooks of Chinese as a foreign language(" developing Chinese " series).Then,the author makes sample statistics and analysis of the advanced reading textbook of developing Chinese from three aspects: the theme of the text,the attitude orientation of implication and the framework of international relations.Then,a questionnaire was designed to investigate the users of the advanced reading materials of developing Chinese,so as to understand the learning needs of learners and their cognition of the image of China embodied in the teaching materials.Finally,based on the results of sample statistical analysis and questionnaire survey,this paper analyzes the success and shortcomings of the advanced reading textbook "developing Chinese" in shaping China’s national image,so as to provide references for the compilation of national image of advanced reading textbooks and the use of advanced reading textbooks by Chinese teachers in the future.Through statistical analysis,this paper summarizes the national image of China in the seven dimensions of politics,society,culture,education,economy,people and geography in the advanced reading materials of developing Chinese language.The paper also summarizes the successes and shortcomings of the advanced reading materials of developing Chinese.The success includes the diversification of China’s national image;To show the real China with an objective and fair attitude;Strong international and cross-cultural awareness.Deficiencies include unbalanced proportions;The content is not comprehensive enough;Part of the negative attitude orientation is likely to lead to the stereotype and misunderstanding of learners.Finally,the paper provides some constructive Suggestions on the compilation of advanced Chinese reading materials and the teachers who use advanced Chinese reading materials.Avoid negative images that may cause misunderstanding and reinforce stereotypes.Appropriate removal of outdated content;It is also necessary to select the image of China from the excellent perspective of foreigners.It is hoped that it can arouse the attention of the textbook editors to the national image of China and provide some Suggestions for the future compilation of TCSL reading materials and the use of TCSL by teachers. |
