In 1955,Kato Shuichi,who returned from France,put forward the theory of hybrid culture.The theory of hybrid culture affirmed the superiority of Japanese culture and relieved the Japanese cultural anxiety after the defeat.It was also an attempt of the breakthrough of culture.In 1960,Kato Shuichi went to Canada to teach at Columbia University of Great Britain and began to do the Japanese art research.On the one hand,Kato Shuichi’s Japanese art research reveals the characteristics of Japanese culture and cultural history.On the other hand,the Japanese art research shows Kato Shuichi’s emphasis on cultural particularity and’value universality.During the Japanese art research,Kato Shuichi discovered the characteristics of time and space in Japanese art,and with the development of the research,he found that the characteristic is exsised in the culture included the social relations.The theory of time and space in Japanese culture explains the characteristics of Japanese culture more systematically from the view of time and space with abundant examples.The application of comparative method is one of the characteristics of Kato Shuichi’s Japanese culture theory.In addition,Kato Shuichi’s Japanese cultural theory is the achievement of his persistent exploration of Japanese tradition thought and Kato Shuichi tried to find a way to change people’s traditional thought and make the nation more open on the basis of understanding Japanese tradition thought.The forming process of Kato Shuichi’s theory of Japanese culture is not only the process of exploring Japanese cultural characteristics,but also the process of seeking the method of reforming the national thought of Kato Shuichi. |
