Naturalism which originated in France and been known by Chinese and Japanese. However, it last such a short-lived in China while showed a strong vitality in Japan. Further more, the naturalism changed into "private novel" when combined with Japanese culture. Although lots of comparative research about China and Japan naturalism had been made, the reason why this situation appeared was still not involved enough. This article, on the view of time and space, to analyze those phenomenon, and reveal the similarities and differences of naturalism in China and Japan.The article has three sections:the first, different culture has their own understanding of abstract conception, such as space and time. In China, the sense of collective is superior than individual. On the contrary, individual is the core of the whole culture in Japan. Therefore, the first section talks about the difference of the cognition about collective and individual in the sense of space. The second section is focus the sense of time as the change of language, especially in the period of "54" in China. On the foundation of the cognition of time and space, the third section analyzed the contrarily development of naturalism in China and Japan.
