Abstract/Summary:
This essay contains fours chapters. The first concerns the influence of philosophy of Aristotle and Leibniz on Hume’s and Kant’s theory of space and time, and it concludes that the concept of topos refered in Physics comes nearly to the experiences of extention, and to the idea of extention of Hume in his times. Through the negation of vaccum and of the separation of place with matter, time with movement, Aristotle and Leipniz who serviced the ideas of space and time as those of the manner or order, in which objects exist, impact on Hume and Kant directly. The second chapter analyzes Hume’s demonstration, in which the idea of extention and the idea of duration seems the manner or order of apperance of objects, but not objects themselves, and it find that Hume met dilemma in this. Then in third chapter, it deals with Kant’interpretation of the concepts of time and space in two ways, the metapysics and the transcendental, and it indicates that Kant accounted for the space and time by two models, one is that time could appears in intuition by virtues of space, another is time induces space. The fourth chapter by comparison of Hume’s theory of space and time with Kant’s, arrives that both of Hume and Kant tend to the definition of space and time as a general form of appearance of objects, for they were constrainted in modern dualism. And yet, because of the demarcation of knowledge in different ways, Hume and Kant differ in regarding space and time as a representation manner in logical ranks. At last, it argues that Hume’s and Kant’ the theroy of space and time in perspective of Heidegger is in the field of representational thinking in essence.
