The excerpt text in the translation report comes from the 2018 Nucleus Diabetes Medical Education Programme. The main learners of the course are medical personnel in diabetes and diabetic patients. The language in the applied text is simple and direct.Translation of diabetes medical courses can provide effective references for domestic medical institutions to treat diabetes, and also practical advice in self-monitoring for diabetic patients. This translation practice report first briefly describes the background, significance and main contents of the translation project. Then it focuses on the translation practice process of the project, including pre-translation preparation, such as analyzing the language features of the text, using relevant parallel texts, making glossary and borrowing other auxiliary tools, etc.,as well as the subsequent translation process and post-translation revision. This paper briefly introduces Hans Vermeer and the Skopostheorie and the applicability of the theory in this translation practice project, and draws lessons from the guiding theory to analyze the translation techniques applied in each case at the lexical level(word addition, word subtraction,part-of-speech conversion, word meaning selection)and the syntactic level(order adjustment, split translation),and finally summarizes the problems encountered in the project practice and put up with some solutions. The author hopes that the research and study of the translation practice report can provide ideas for the translation of medical texts of enterprises or institutions, provide a variety of bilingual understanding methods for medical personnel and patients, and provide a good reference and inspiration for the author and other translators in the future translation process of medical texts.
