Since the historical task of the policy of building a new socialist countryside was clearly put forward, rural construction has been a hot social concern. In the field of film and television, documentaries with local themes emerge in endlessly, especially documentaries of Ancient Village Theme with great cultural value and topic of ancient are favored by the creators, which play an important role in the inheritance and protection of traditional cultural heritage. On the other hand, the development of new media has created new conditions for the development of documentaries.Documents make use of the advantages of new media to make new attempts and innovations, and act on the way of documentary creation, which is reflected in the content presented of documentaries. The micro-documentaries born in the new media environment naturally reflect new features for the presentation of ancient villages, creators lay stress on the aesthetic of ancient villages in order to increase "flow rate"and emphasizes the fate of ancient villages in order to increase the value of documentary at the same time, but the efforts to create the aesthetic image of ancient villages can easily weaken the essence of the decline of ancient villages. The presentation of the image of ancient villages in China in the recent well-received New Media Microdocumentary "Great Village" is typical. From the perspective of semiotics, this study explores the symbolic construction of the image of new media documentaries in ancient villages on the basis of "visual culture theory" and "media real construction theory".Firstly,as a form of image, documentary is composed of many kinds of symbolic forms, reflecting different symbolic representations and symbolic characteristics. The presentation of its main connotation is accomplished through the use of symbols, coding and ideographic links.Secondly, documentary itself is a visual cultural product. It relies on visual symbols and their relationships to construct a meaningful visual image. The premise of its successful transmission of meaning and content is that it can effectively exert visual appeal and create visual pleasure. At the same time,as a contemporary visual cultural work,it is also the result of meeting consumer demand.Thirdly,as a special image medium, documentary film has the function of reflecting the objective reality because of its documentary characteristics. The symbolic reality it presents acts on the subjective reality of the public, thus counteracting the objective reality. Therefore, the starting point of this paper is what kind of characteristics of ancient village image is constructed on the basis of signifier, signifier and signifier of symbols in new media micro-documentaries.In order to explore the symbolic construction of ancient villages in the new media documentary more deeply, this paper also adopts the methods of literature research, case analysis, text analysis and questionnaire survey. On the basis of consulting and drawing lessons from a large number of previous studies, this study determines the content and direction of this study, that is,from the perspective of semiotics, introducing semiotic concepts such as "signifier","signifier"and "signifier".By analyzing the symbolic representation, symbolic construction presentation, symbolic construction techniques and effects in the documentary, this study analyses the process of symbolic construction of ancient village image. Finally,it analyses the process of symbolic construction of ancient village image This paper puts forward some thoughts on the direction of creation of new media documentaries on related subjects.Taking the new media documentary "Great Villages" as an example, this paper makes a textual analysis of all the existing image data(a total of 24 episodes),and summarizes the image characteristics of ancient villages and the symbolic representation and symbolic construction techniques.Secondly, using the method of questionnaire survey,235 valid questionnaires were finally identified in 380 questionnaires, and the cognitive changes of the subjective facts of the audience brought about by the image of the ancient villages were sorted out,so as to reflect and verify the main problems of the symbol construction method which highlights the aesthetic characteristics of the ancient villages. The main body of this paper is divided into three parts:introduction, conclusion and conclusion. The introduction part introduces the origin of the research, the research summary, the related concepts, the theoretical framework and the research methods. The first chapter of this part is an introduction to the types of symbols in the documentary, including the original ecological landscape symbols and color Club cultural symbols. The second chapter introduces the characteristics of symbol construction in the micro-documentary "The Great Village",which mainly includes the Defamiliarization of symbolic meaning, the fuzzification of symbolic boundaries, the combination of insignificance and cross-context.Chapter three is the reflection of the film creator’s ideology in the construction of symbols, that is,on the basis of text analysis,it summarizes two kinds of symbolic images presented in the construction of symbols in the documentary film, namely, aesthetic image and depressed image, which are embodied in the film as the natural view of harmony between man and nature, the view of life of harmonious coexistence, the view of self-sufficiency and the abandonment and collective of material places. The disappearance of memory and common experience, the fall of traditional rural economy and so on.Secondly,as the image characteristics of the same subject, the two symbolic images of aestheticism and depressed image must converge and merge into the overall image of the ancient village. But at the same time, the coder intends to highlight the aesthetic characteristics at the time of image construction, which will directly weaken the communication effect of depressed image. Therefore,it conceals the dangerous fate of the ancient villages and makes the audience pay more attention to the aesthetic representation of the ancient villages rather than their declining fate and the exploration of breaking through the road.At the same time,in order to shape the aesthetic effect of the film, the symbolic expression of the film appears some defects, such as semantics and context separation, rigid speech caused by other’s perspective, fiction of symbolic meaning and closed narrative environment, which will naturally have a negative impact on the presentation of the image of ancient villages and the transmission of their connotations, and limit their social value and influence. So the fourth chapter reflects on the symbolic construction of the ancient village image in the micro-documentary from the perspective of symbols. It also points out the main shortcomings of the ancient village image construction in the micro-documentary and the way to break through, which is the micro-discipline of the new media.Video provides theoretical reference and guidance for the presentation of ancient villages, realizes the breakthrough in the creation of new media documentaries on related subjects, and thus develops and improves the value of protecting the cultural heritage of ancient villages. The final conclusion is the summary and reflection of the whole paper.
