The Relationship Between Social Support And Prosocial Behavior Of Rural Junior Middle School Students:Chain Mediation Of Interpersonal Trust And Self-esteem | Posted on:2020-01-28 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | Country:China | Candidate:S X Hu | Full Text:PDF | GTID:2405330572991860 | Subject:Applied psychology | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | Prosocial behavior is a positive social behavior,which plays an important role in social stability and development.Junior high school students are in a special stage of physical and mental development,and the cultivation and development of mental and behavioral health of rural junior high school students has not been widely concerned.The main objects of social relations of rural junior middle school students are parents,teachers and classmates,so it is meaningful to explore the influence of social support from parents,teachers and classmates on the psychology and behavior of rural junior middle school students.At the same time,social support will affect the individual’s interpersonal trust and then affect the individual’s self-esteem level.Rural junior high school students with high self-esteem level can more affirm their value and make prosocial behavior easier.Therefore,it is of great significance to study the influence of social support,interpersonal trust and self-esteem on prosocial behavior of rural junior high school students in order to cultivate their positive social behavior.In this study,830 students from a rural junior middle school in Hebei Province were selected to collect data by questionnaire survey.Then the collected data were analyzed and processed by SPSS22.0.Amos was used to build a structural model.The results showed that:(1)The prosocial behavior of girls was significantly higher than that of boys in the whole,and the prosocial behavior of second-year students was significantly higher than that of first-year students.Students,in some dimensions,are also significantly higher than junior three students;(2)There is a significant difference in the overall social support in grade,which is manifested in that junior one and junior two students are significantly higher than junior three students.Rural junior high school students from teachers have the highest social support,followed by classmate support,and finally parental support.Girls’ support from classmates is significantly higher than that from boys,and there is no significant gender difference in social support from other sources;(3)the self-esteem level of rural junior middleschool boys is significantly higher than that of girls,and the self-esteem level of junior middle school students is significantly higher than that of junior middle school students;(4)there is no significant gender and grade difference in interpersonal trust among rural junior middle school students;(5)rural junior middle school students’ community.Social support and prosocial behavior are significantly positively correlated,and all dimensions and sources of social support are significantly positively correlated with prosocial behavior;(6)rural junior high school students’ self-esteem and prosocial behavior are significantly positively correlated;(7)rural junior high school students’ interpersonal trust and prosocial behavior are significantly positively correlated;(8)rural junior high school students’ social support,self-esteem and interpersonal trust can significantly predict their relatives.Social behavior;(9)Interpersonal trust and self-esteem of rural junior high school students play a chain intermediary role in the influence of social support on prosocial behavior.Through the analysis of the relationship among social support,interpersonal trust,self-esteem and prosocial behavior of rural junior middle school students,this study draws the conclusion that providing good social support for rural junior middle school students can enhance their confidence in the surrounding environment and others,and in an environment full of trust,they will take the initiative to think about whether they have the ability to help others when others need help.Help.When they believe that they have a higher ability,they will produce a corresponding higher level of self-esteem,and eventually make pro-social behavior. | Keywords/Search Tags: | Rural junior high school students, social support, interpersonal trust, self-esteem, prosocial behavior | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
