evaluated. The Civil Servants Stress Scale,Emotional Intelligence Scale(EIS),Self-rating Depression Scale(SDS)and Self-rating Anxiety Scale(SAS)were used.Demographic variables(gender, family sources, the only child, marital status, years of work, education level, the relationship with colleagues, physical exercise and monthly income, etc.)were collected as well. Then the relationship between the mental health of the junior civil servants and other factors was analyzed.Results:1.The detection rate of depression in junior civil servants was 65.2%,including 61.1% for males and 71.8% for females. The detection rate of anxiety was 42.1%,of which the male detection rate was 39.5% and the female detection rate was 46.2%.The average scores of anxiety/depression were much higher than the norm(t=22.251,P<0.001;t=17.108,P<0.001).2.The depression scores of the junior civil servants from rural areas were higher than those from urban areas(F=4.249,P=0.015).Those with education level of undergraduate and above had lower depression scores than those with junior college education or below(F=3.685,P=0.026).The junior civil servants who exercised regularly scored lower in depression scores than those who exercised little or rarely(F=3.586,P=0.029).The anxiety scores of the junior civil servants with poor relationship with colleagues were higher than other groups(F=3.033,P=0.050),and the junior civil servants with little or no physical activities were higher than those with regular or occasional exercises(F=4.599,P=0.011).The depression and anxiety scores of the junior civil servants whose monthly income was 2500 CNY or above were significantly lower than those whose monthly income was lower than 2500 CNY(F=10.013,P<0.001;F=6.497,P=0.002).3.The pressure of male and married civil servants was greater than that of females and unmarried people(t=3.443,P=0.001;t=-2.266,P=0.024).The pressure scores of the civil servants with undergraduate education were higher than that of junior college or below(P=0.003).The pressure scores of the civil servants with better relationship with colleagues were lower than that with mediocre relationship(P=0.003).The pressure scores of the civil servants who exercised frequently were lower than that of the other two groups(P=0.039,0.001),and the civil servants whose monthly income was 3500 CNYyuan or higher were higher than those monthly income less than CNY 2500yuan(P=0.001).4.The management and development, workload, work relationship, health and responsibility, and life relationship scores and the general pressure scores of the junior civil servants with depression were higher than those without depression(t=3.639,P<0.001;t=2.429,P=0.016;t=2.646,P=0.009;t=3.166,P=0.002;t=3.966,P<0.001;t=4.003,P<0.001),and the emotional intelligence scores of the depression group were lower than those without depression(t=-4.591,-6.176,-6.935,-5.562;P<0.001).The total pressure scores and dimension scores of the junior civil servants with anxiety were higher than those without anxiety(t=7.094,6.244,5.452,5.880,5.291,5.532,4.971;P<0.001),and the scores of emotional intelligence of anxiety group were lower than those without anxiety(t=-4.038,-3.752,-4.266,-3.835;P<0.001).5.Depression was positively correlated with all dimensions of the civil servant pressure except for the economic pressure(r=0.133~0.244,P<0.05),and negatively correlated with four dimensions of the emotional intelligence(r=-0.323~-0.280,P<0.05).There was a significant positive correlation between anxiety and civil servant pressure(r=0.310~0.446,P<0.05),and a significant negative correlation with the four dimensions of the emotional intelligence(r=-0.286~-0.268,P<0.05).The work relationship, health and responsibility, and life relationship of the civil servant pressure were significantly correlated with different dimensions of the emotional intelligence(r=-0.237~-0.120,P<0.05).6.Unconditional logistic regression analysis showed that the male and the other people's emotional management were protective factors for depression(OR=0.42 and 0.79),and the only child, monthly income less than 2500 CNY,and health and responsibility were the risk factors for depression(OR=2.68,4.01 and 1.05).The male and the other people's emotional management were protective factors for anxiety(OR=0.51 and 0.86),and monthly income was lower than 2500 CNY,management and development, and health and responsibility were the risk factors for anxiety(OR=6.16,5.63,1.05 and 1.04).Conclusions:1.The depression/anxiety of the junior civil servants is serious.People who were the male, married, below junior college education level, poor colleague relationship and no physical exercise had obvious depression, anxiety and stress.2.Emotional intelligence could alleviate the relationship between stress and negative emotions.Emotional Intelligence(emotional management of others)and the male were protective factors of depression and
