In the age of big data,a new generation of information technology drives the language service industry to move forward vigorously.Language service demand is still on the rise in language service market.Since the implementation of the “Belt and Road” initiative,China has closely cooperated with countries along the development line,which requires a higher level of language service.Due to the language service business growth,customer diversity,and project complexity,terminology management problems come out and affect the translation quality,which is harmful to enterprises’ international development.Terminology management is an important part of both enterprise globalization language asset management and enterprise international language strategy.After reading relevant literature,the author finds that foreign terminology researchers have turned from focusing on terminology theory research into focusing on terminology theory and practice research.In contrast,most of the domestic researchers have discussed problems from the perspective of terminology theory with few studies about terminology management systems and terminology management tools in language service practice.There is even no research on the terminology management process practice.Therefore,from the perspective of terminology management,the author intends to research the current situation of the terminology management process of Chinese language service enterprises,and improve terminology management practice,which can improve translation quality and production efficiency and reduce cost.This research first identifies the research questions,collects and analyzes the literature,and then takes 200 enterprise members from the Translators Association of China(TAC)as the research subject,designs and circulates the online questionnaire,and collects the data of terminology management process form these enterprises.After presenting the results in charts,the author analyzes data and tries to concludethe current situation of terminology management process.This research specifically answers the following questions: 1.What is the current situation of the terminology management process of Chinese language service enterprises? 2.What are the causes of the situation? 3.What are the suggestions for improving the situation?Through the investigation,it is found that domestic language service enterprises do not pay enough attention to terminology management;they cannot properly use terminology management tools;they do not invest in terminology management and lack terminology staff,etc.Based on the survey results,the author summarizes the current situation of terminology management process and find the reasons.Then,according to the talent requirements of language service enterprises,the author proposes feasible suggestions to improve the terminology management process,train terminology management talents and improve language service quality from three perspectives – language service industry association,language service enterprises and MTI schools.The author hopes that this survey will help more researchers to further study terminology management.
