With the advent of big data and 5G,the demand for language service continues to grow with requirements for LSPs getting higher and higher.Chinese language service industry is facing unprecedented opportunities and challenges. As a kind of intangible assets produced by LSPs in language service projects, linguistic assets are of considerable significance to LSPs.Effective management and utilization of linguistic assets improves the efficiency of language service, ensure the quality of language service projects, and reduce costs for enterprises.Linguistic assets management(hereinafter LAM)has thus become a linchpin of the development of Chinese LSPs.By reading relevant literature, the author finds that currently there is a paucity of research on enterprise linguistic assets.Existing research mainly explores different types of linguistic assets and their usage, lacking empirical research on the actual situation of LAM of LSPs.Therefore, the author designs the survey questionnaire and distributes it to more than 200 Chinese LSPs.Based on the collected data, the author conducts a detailed analysis to summarize the current status of LAM.This report answers the following questions:(1)What is the current situation of LAM of Chinese LSPs?(2)What are the problems in LAM of Chinese LSPs?(3)What are the suggestions for coping with these problems? It is found that Chinese LSPs pay insufficient attention to LAM,lacking in the sharing and standardization of linguistic assets. The development of relevant technology is lagging behind and there is also a lack of talents in this field.Based on the above findings, the author analyzes the reasons and puts forward suggestions for each problem in hopes of enhancing LAM of Chinese LSPs,promoting the development of LAM standards and technology and improving relevant education and training. The author hopes that this survey can serve as a reference for other researchers and make a modest contribution to the field of LAM.
