As we all know that traveling has been a heated topic since people have more money available. However,in recent years,it seems that traveling at home cannot meet people’s demands.A growing number of people become more indulged in traveling abroad.Against this backdrop, the translation of tourism literature,as part of literary translation,is of great importance. The study of it can not only help people know more about foreign cultures and customs, but also boost the development of tourism industry. The author selected an English tourism literature The Broken Road:From the Iron Gates to Mount Athos and tried to translate some excerpts into Chinese for the purpose of understanding the characteristics of English tourism literature. This study focuses on the problems of translating tourism literature and takes explicitation as the translation strategy to solve these problems. With help of the parallel texts of Down the Yangtze(《沿扬子江顺流而下》)and River Town(《江城》),this study shows us how to address translation problems by adding footnotes, adding connectives, making extensions and adjusting the structure of the sentence.
