A Report On The C-E Translation Of Papers About The Primary Healthcare Services In China

The translation of medical paper on primary healthcare service,as an important branch of scientific translation,has unique textual features and translation techniques.Meanwhile,as a channel to promote the international exchange in medicine,the significance of medical translation is being highlighted.The source text introduces the state quo of the primary healthcare in grass-roots medical institution and the development obstacles,which requires professional knowledge and is worthwhile to translate.In report,the linguistic and stylistic features of the source text are analyzed respectively from lexical,syntactic and textual aspects.Lexically,the source text involves terminologies,abbreviations,and borrowing words.Syntactically,it is featured with the massive use of active voice,non-subject sentences,loose sentences,and long sentences.Textually,the source text is characterized by conciseness,and logic.In consideration of those features in the source text,the author employs Barkhudalov’s Translation Unit Theory as the guidance to the C-E translation.In the course,the author adopts phoneme,word,phrase,sentence,and discourse as TU to analyze the C-E translation of proper noun,four-character expression,simple sentence,non-subject sentence,long sentence and paragraph.In the course,some translation methods and techniques are included such as literal translation,transition,adding translation,omission,conversion,division,shifting,unpacking,and combination in pursuit of an equivalence in both structure and meaning,and conveying the information in the source text.The translation project has proved that a good translator should be masterful with rich knowledge in both translation theory and practice.First,a proper translation theory together with its application can provide the translator a macro guidance to translation practice;second,the translator should not only know about the related medical background,but also acquire a good command of both Chinese and English;third,some tools such as online dictionary and corpus can be employed to facilitate the translation project.At last,the report on the translation of primary healthcare service is expected to provide scholars and students with some references.
