The E-C Translation Of International University Student Exchange Agreement Under The Guidance Of Skopos Theory

Nowadays,the cooperation and exchanges between universities at home and abroad have become increasingly close.The international university student exchange agreement has played a significant role in translation market.However,compared with other commercial agreements,its market share still lags far behind.The author translated several exchange agreements throughout the period of being an assistant at the university’s International Cooperation Office,and found that in terms of content,format and general terms,there are differences as well as similarities in such agreements and commercial agreements,so the author follows the approach to seeking common ground while reserving differences.The author,on the one hand,grasps the overall characters of the texts and retains the customary expressions by looking for parallel texts;on the other hand,actively searches for relevant background information,and pursues the accuracy of original texts while keeps their distinguishing features.Given that these agreements are a kind of text with clear purpose,the author translated three international universities student exchange agreements based on Skopos Theory.By analyzing and summarizing the three agreements,the author hopes to offer some inspirations and references for those who translate the similar texts.This report consists of five chapters: the first chapter introduces the definition and general characteristics of the agreement;the second chapter details the background of the projects,the requirements of the client and the text condition;the third chapter discusses the process of translation,which are pre-translation preparations and post-translation summaries;the forth chapter starts with the example of texts,vocabularies,and sentences,offering translation skills by case studies;the fifth chapter concludes this translation practice,including gains and shortcomings.
