The Discussion Of The Illegal Sacrifice In Song And Yuan Dynasties

The Illegal Sacrifice is a relative concept to the Legal Sacrifice.The Confucian classics stipulate that if you sacrifice something which not belong to you can be calling Illegal Sacrifice.Afterwards,this conception changed,Illegal Sacrifice became the sacrifice which not was belonging to the official sacrifices.If the government did not agreed,they always would be hit it.However,with the scholars on the research of Illegal Sacrifice gradually,on the definition of the nature and status of Illegal Sacrifice and evaluation in the history which need to look at from a new way.The folk religion in Song Dynasty had great development,with the increase of folk gods which was recognized by the government,this dynasty formed a huge system of sacrifice.The sacrifice of Yuan Dynasty had influenced by the policy of the national customs.It was not tightly controlled as the Song Dynasty,and these temples are still sacred in the Yuan Dynasty.What's more,the Song and Yuan Dynasties in worship have certain continuity.This paper attempts to analysis the Song and Yuan Dynasties' sacrifice of SanGaoci and Tudi Temple,and scholars' view on Illegal Sacrifice at that time,and the Ming and Qing Dynasties' scholars,to explore the nature of the Illegal Sacrifice.I will be from three aspects which are the rules of sacrifice,the Confucian classics and the public to explain offering to explain “the Illegal Sacrifice is not illegal”.The main point of this article: First,the rules of sacrifice and its huge Confucian classic text which used to determine the Illegal Sacrifice were unstable and not able to withstand heavy battering authority.Second,the Illegal Sacrifice's definition depends on the local social and government's attitude.Third,the Song and Yuan Dynasties criticism the Illegal Sacrifice is mainly aimed at the act of faith is not legitimate,not considering the psychology of ordinary people of faith.
