Study On The Epitaph Of Tuo Zhizhong And Sima Miaoyu In Northern Wei Dynasty

Since the study of the Jinshi textual criticism in the Qing Dynasty,people began to pay attention to the Northern Dynasties' writings,and the object of study of the Northern Dynasties' calligraphy and writing mainly refers to the "Weibei Tablet" from the period of 40 years after Emperor Xiaowen moved from Pingcheng to Luoyang.The "Weibei Tablet" can be roughly divided into "Pingcheng Period" and "Luoyang Period".In recent years,scholars have gradually paid attention to the "Pingcheng Book Trails." Liu Tao discussed the books of the Pingcheng period.Yin Xian made a series of research results for the Pingcheng books of the Northern Wei Dynasty.Before this,people only knew "Luoyang" and did not know "Pingcheng".The situation has made an effort.The research object of this article,Tuo Zhizhong and Sima Miaoyu's Epitaph,was engraved in the five years of Jinghui of the Northern Wei Dynasty(504)and belongs to a representative book in the early “Luoyang Book Style”.It will be studied from four aspects..First,the epitaphs,as primary sources,carry out detailed annotations on the contents of the inscriptions,and conduct research on the lineage relations of the inscription on the monument to the owner,Tuo Zhezhong,to gain a profound understanding of the content of this essay and to add to the history.Second,his wife,Sima Miaoyu,descended from the descendant of the Marsh family of Jinzong Division of the Northern Wei Dynasty.The author comprehensively inspected the Sima family in the Northern Wei Dynasty of Guifu,and made an inquiry into the marriage with the Tuoba royal family.Third,this epitaph was buried in Pingcheng.During the process of studying this epitaph form,we analyzed the relationship between the size of the tombstone and the grade of the officials in the Pingcheng area,reached relevant conclusions,and explored the reasons for this phenomenon.Fourthly,a comprehensive analysis of the monumental inscriptions andcalligraphy styles of the epitaphs and comparative analysis of the images were carried out.After comparing this epitaph with the relevant epitaph horizontally and longitudinally,it was discovered that the style of this epigraphy has not faded away the features of the inscription on the city of Pingcheng.The characteristics of "Luoyang body" provide the basis for studying the development of the book style before and after the transfer of capital.
