In the Guiding Opinions on Strengthening Mental Health Services promulgated by the ministries and commissions,"mental health of all people" was pointed as an concept,which showed that mental health was increasingly valued by the state and society.Primary school students are in an important period of physical and mental development,so their mental health can not be ignored.Peer contact and friendship is an important part of primary school,and friendship quality affects the mental health of primary school students to a certain extent.Simultaneously,primary school students in the process of communication gradually begin to form a self-concept.The senior students in primary school are in the critical period and turning point of the development of their studies and self-concept,and self-concept of different nature have a negative or positive effect on mental health.Based on the development characteristics of friendship quality and self-concept of seniors students in primary school.The present study based on the development characteristic of friendship quality and self-concept of senior students in primary school,investigating the relationship among friendship quality,self-concept and mental health of senior students in primary school,and then puts forward the intervention strategies to primary school students mental development.The present study used the Song-Hattie Self-Concept Scale,Friendship Quality Questionnaire(FQQ)and Mental Health Diagnostic Test(MHT)investigate 309 students in grades five and six.The results showed:(1)The quality of friendship among senior students in primary school is generally high.In terms of help and guidance,recognition and care,intimate communication and companionship and entertainment factors,girls scored significantly higher than boys.(2)All dimensions of self-concept of senior students in primary school are above average level.Grade 5 students scored significantly higher than grade 6 in self-class dimension.In self-peer and self-achievement dimensions,girls scored significantly higher than boys.(3)Mental health of seniors of primary school is relatively good.86.1%of students belonged to the mental health range,and 2.9%were unhealthy students.Learning anxiety became the most troubling problem for senior students in primary school,and rural students were significantly more anxious in learning than urban students.Grade 5 students' mental health was significantly lower than that of grade 6 students.Grade 5 students score significantly higher than grade 6 students in physical symptoms,allergic tendencies,self-blaming tendencies,and loneliness tendencies.On the anxiety of people factor,the only child score was significantly lower than the non-only child.(4)The quality of friendship,self-concept and mental health are inter-related.There was a significant negative correlation between negative friendship and mental health.Positive friendship and its dimensions are positively correlated with all dimensions of self-concept.There was a significant' positive correlation between self-concept and mental health.(5)Negative friendship played a significant negative predictive role in mental health.Self-competence,self-class and self-companion play a part of mediating role on the quality of negative friendship and mental health.
