E-C Translation Report On ITE Group Exhibition-related Press Releases

With the deepening of foreign economic activities,press releases within foreign-related companies have become a common type of business in translation practice.The themes of company press releases are often scattered,with medium and small pages being the majority.The quality of translation directly affects the understanding and implementation of internal rules and regulations,the team atmosphere and the construction of corporate image and so on.On the one hand,to achieve great promotion effect,company press releases usually adopt simple and clear words and sentences.On the other hand,company press releases are often closely related with the industry they belong to,the content of which is usually professional and contains some industrial terms.Therefore,to translate company press releases,translators should not only pay attention to the linguistic fluency,but also ensure the accuracy and profession of the content.This paper is based on translating practice of the internal press releases and relevant documents.This paper first introduces the background of the translation project and summarizes the relevant research situation,research significance and methods.Then,the paper summarizes the preparation before translation,including gaining professional knowledge,searching parallel texts,extracting terms and choosing translation tools.Then,the paper makes a detailed analysis of the translating cases from the perspective of titles,words and sentences.The paper finds that for titles,short words,acronyms and non-finite verbs are most often used,while for words,attention should be paid to the use of industrial terms and names of positions and people.Syntactically,translators should notice some rather complex sentences.With regard to the aforesaid features,the paper puts forward some translating methods and skills.For titles,it is more helpful to use literal and free translation,word adding or deleting and punctuation adjustment.Lexically,to ensure translating accuracy,translation of terms and position names should be checked and verified with the help of industrial dictionaries,forums and google searches.For complex sentences,it is advisable to flexibly use methods like linear translation,splitting translation and word order adjustment.Besides,considering differences between Chinese and English,focuses should be on the reference,substitution,conjunction and other cohesive methods to achieve "equivalent" shift.
