A Report On E-C Translation Of Akzo Nobel Press Release Under The Guidance Of Skopos Theory

This report is based on the English-Chinese translation of 10000-word AkzoNobel press release rendered during the present author's internship in Weber Shandwick Agency.This report aims at discussing several practical translation methods for English press release according to skopos theory after the features of source text are analyzed.The report includes five chapters.The first chapter briefly introduces research background,the definition and features of press release,as well as the layout of the report.In the next chapter,the report presents a concise literature review of both skopos theory and domestic current studies on press release translation.Then the report comes to its body parts: Chapter Three and Chapter Four.In Chapter Three,the overall translation process has been reviewed from pre-translation preparations,translation process and post-translation revision.Chapter Four is case study,in which the author combines skopos theory with own translation practice to present three principles on press release translation: ensuring the accuracy of information,performing publicity function and using appropriate style.Based on abovementioned principles,the author concludes the adopted translation methods in the translation practice,namely addition,restructuring and emphasis.In the concluding part the author summarizes the report and points out its limitations and offer suggestions for further improvement.
