A Report On C-E Translation Of Comprehensive Credit Contract

As China's legal system has been improved and people's awareness of law enhanced,texts of contracts are becoming increasingly important in international trade.So far,major studies of texts of contracts mainly focus on business contracts and construction contracts.As a result,there are few studies on credit contracts.Obviously,it is necessary to analyze and study credit contracts.This report is based on the Comprehensive Credit Contract translated by the writer.First,the report states the background of the selection of the project and other relevant information.Next,it describes the linguistic characteristics of the source text from diction and sentences to text.Then,the writer analyzes the case of the contract by means of qualitative and quantitative analysis and draws the following conclusions:with regard to the technical terms in the text,the translator should be responsible for their accuracy and consistence in the whole translation;such techniques as the literal translation,division,combination,conversion of word classes and voices,etc.are feasible or practical for translation of sentences;as for translation of the text,the translator must consider its coherence and wholeness.Finally,the author summarizes her findings and points out the shortcomings of the report.Through the translation,the writer has not only improved her translation skill,but also become familiar with translation techniques,as well as with relevant work in the translation company.This report is intended to give readers an understanding of the linguistic characteristics of the credit contract and to provide inspiration for subsequent translators to improve their translation.The writer thinks that her main new finding lies in her discovery of the two features of the text,i.e.it is seemingly incoherent in form,but it is really consistent in content.This discovery can raise the translator's overall awareness to improve the translated contract,which is of great significance.
