As a common theme for painters' creation,the portraiture significantly reflects the development and change of human during historical and cultural daily life,and also records the development of human image.In traditional classical art,portraits emphasize the psychological state and physical characteristics of the characters depicted in certain social environments.Contemporary portrait painters focus more on the psychological characteristics of objects.The image of the characters is often subject to subjective changes by the painters and is endowed with unique meaning.David Hockney is an outstanding contemporary artist who has created a series of stunning portraits.The portrait becomes the reflection of the painter's subjective world.In many cases,it is no longer merely the passive copying of the object by the artist himself,but it becomes a way for painters to perceive the world and know the world.The emotions expressed by the portrait are influenced by the painter's perception and the surroundings.Always,the portrait is the deposit,the remnant and the result of the encounter between two people-a moment of human intimacy,one of revelation.Undoubtedly it is this element of portraiture,rather than its public,social or ceremonial function,that fascinates David Hockney.The sitter in a portrait,Brilliant continues,must be represented in such a manner that under no circumstance can his[sic]identity be confused with that of anyone else,so that there be an unequivocal reference to a distinctive reality.The essence of the portrait is notoriously difficult to pin down,and Hockney,ever playful,delights in dancing around the obvious,eschewing the safe and conventional.The 'periodic style' of an artist as mercurial as Hockney is indeed a question of interest.David Hockney is British national artists of the 20th century,in his landscape painting is usually well known,and meanwhile Hockney's portrait work also sending out the charming luster.There are three parts to this article.The first part introduces the development of David Hockney and his portrait.The second part of reading mirror double meanings in this article.On the one hand,I introduce the history of the mirror,David Hockney analysis and relation of the mirror and mirror on the portrait of the impact of;On the other hand,from the lens,analyze the influence of the camera and the imaging device from its portrait;The third part is based on the development of the portrait of David Hockney,exploring the different world that the artist has seen in different stages.
