Jean Sibelius is a great composer of the Finnish national music and one of the most famous nationalist figures of the 19 th century. The Symphony No.2 was completed in 1902 as an early work of Sibelius symphonies. Its style is concise. The strong connection among the materials in the work reflects the developing variation of the various themes, which makes the works have a close logical relationship and provides a unified force for the whole song. This paper focuses on the research of the developing variation in the Symphony No.2.and tries to illustrate the application of the developing variation in the Symphony No.2.The paper is divided into five parts: introduction, chapter one, chapter two, chapter three and conclusion. The introduction part mainly discusses the research status and research methods of Symphony No.2 of Sibelius. The first chapter gives an overview of the Symphony No.2 of Sibelius and the developing variation. In this chapter the paper divides the developing variation into two categories: single and multiple. The simplex developing variation is the process of generating a new theme by the change of a step from the prototype. The multiple developing variation is the process of generating a new theme through multiple step changes from the prototype. The second and third chapters start with the classification of these two types of the developing variation, and discuss the generation of the theme in the works. The second chapter focuses on the the simplex developing variation of the Symphony No.2,from the prototype changes as a whole and keep the prototype framework unchanged.Indicate that acquisition of a new theme is through a step. The third chapter focuses on the multiple developing variation of the Symphony No.2,explains it form two prototypes changed simultaneously and the prototype recombination, the new theme needs to be explained in the process of generating multiple steps. The conclusion part systematically summarizes the application of the developing variation in the Symphony No.2. |
