Jean Sibelius was the representative figure of the 19 th century Finnish national music school and late Romantic music.The "Symphony No.5" was created from 1915 to 1919 have modified twice before the final finalization.From his legacy of the draft we can see many different solutions that trying to solve and construct this large work.This symphony clearly reflects his love of nature,but also fully inherited the essence of classicism and romanticism.He abandoned the tendency of modern music at that time,but returned to the traditional and has the most personal characteristics of innovation.In this paper,the thematic structure of the "Fifth Symphony" is the main line of the study,trying to reveal the composer in the creation of the most characteristic theme of the construction techniques and induction.This paper is divided into five parts: the introduction,the first chapter,the second chapter,the third chapter and the conclusion.The introduction part wide introduces the general of Sibelius’ s creative career and the "Symphony No.5 " creative style and the characteristics.The first chapter to the third chapter respectively to "The generation of the thematic structure characteristics of every movement" and "The links between the themes of every movement " and "The influence of the thematic structure and its changes on the musical form " as the key link system of the Sibelius "Symphony No.5" thematic structure characteristics.Through analysis and sum up the characteristics of the thematic structure to explore the links between the themes of every move ment,finally to determine the final composition of the formal structure.The conclusion part summarizes the contents of the above three chapters,from the perspective of rational thinking to complete his creative ideas in-depth study,to better return to the work itself and feel the far-reaching significance.
