The translation report is based on translation of COMMERCIAL CONDITIONS AND INSTRUCTIONS of Al-Zour Refinery Project,which is the commercial bid of international competitive bidding for procurement of mechanic and electronic products.As it is well known,bidding activity serves as a bridge of communication in international trade.Many Chinese enterprises have begun to participate in international competition in the field of politics,economy,culture and so on.According to the current international practice,international bidding documents are generally written in English.It is necessary to translate the international bidding documents into Chinese for Chinese enterprises,so that specialists in Chinese enterprises can have a good understanding of the bidding documents.After a thorough analysis of the source text,the author completed translation under the guidance of Nida's Functional Equivalence Theory.The translation report includes five chapters.The first chapter is a brief introduction to the background,significance and content of the report.The second chapter is about source of translation task,analysis of the source text and requirements from the entrusting party.The third chapter includes preparation before translation,process description during translation and evaluation after translation.Then the fourth chapter focuses on analyzing translation of terms,passive voice,and long and complicated sentences.The fifth chapter summaries the acquired experience during translation and limitations that need to be improved in the future.Through this translation practice,the author understands the stylistic characteristics of the bidding documents.The author also hopes that this report could be a reference for the E-C translation of bidding documents.
