A Report On C-E Translation Of Excerpts From Bidding Document For The Highway 569

China enjoys more opportunity to undertake international projects for its great development in society and technology,which encourages enormous demand of specialized translation in construction industry.As an important role in international bidding,the translation of the bidding document is of great significance.Regarding the Bidding Document for the Highway 569 as research objective,this translation report gives a brief introduction of the background and research significance,deliberates the language features and the whole translation process that includes pretranslation preparations,comprehension and expression,and proofreading.It selects some typical examples to analyze specific translation methods and techniques used in the translation under the guidance of the Functional Equivalence Theory.In terms of words translation,the author mainly uses literal translation,omission and conversion to deal with the terminologies and other special words.While in terms of sentences,the author employs amplification,shift of perspective,combination and reversion to translate non-subject sentences and long sentences.The translation practice makes a penetrating impression of the Functional Equivalence Theory on the author,expanding her knowledge of infrastructural project.The author herself also deeply realizes that her shortcomings in English expression,which drives her to make earnest effort to improve the translation ability.In addition,this report is intended to provide reference for translation of the text related to architectural engineering.
