On Gadamer's View Of Understanding

Hermeneutics is the learning about understanding and explanation.Gadamer take understanding,interpretation and application as three elements of hermeneutics.It is clear that the importance of understanding in hermeneutics.This thesis clarifies the spiel structure,situations and process of Gadamer?s understanding conception by taking the understanding of Gadamer?s conception as the core.This thesis attempts to present Gdamer?s thoughts through analyzing from the macroscopic views and different aspects.The thesis is divided into four parts in general.The introduction part includes background of topic selection,research status of Gadamer?s hermeneutics and methods research of this thesis.The second chapter explores the theoretical origin and the spiel structure of understanding about Gadamer's view of understanding.Firstly,it researches the development of the concept in a longitudinal way by introducing the understanding concept of Schleiermacher,Dier and Heidegger in this part.Secondly,starting with the concept of spiel,this thesis discusses the spiel structure of Gadamer's concept of understanding.The third chapter discusses the fore-structure,the necessary situations and the media of the understanding.Fore-structure about occurrence of understanding involve three concepts: the cycle of understanding,the fore-sight,and the completeness.The necessary conditions for understanding?s occurrence mainly to explore the discontinuity of time and time interval.Finally,language is explored as the medium of understanding.The fourth chapter explores the process and completion of understanding.The first section deals with the understanding as the effective historical events,fusion of horizons and experience included.Dialogue is the second part,the question structure of dialogue,the subjective and objective problems in understanding and understanding under the influence of good will are involved.The last section turns the perspective to the application,the completion of the application is the final completion of the understanding.It is believed that we could recognize the process of understanding clearly by presenting and exploring these concepts.
