A Study On The Creation Of Historical Paintings:Taking Xu Beihong’s Tian Heng Wu Bai Shi As An Example

Through the analysis of Xu Beihong’s famous oil painting Tian Heng Wu Bai Shi,this author thinks about how to create historical paintings.Historical painting is a continuous and interactive dialogue between the subjective consciousness of historical painting creators and historical facts,which should include the historical reality and the subjective consciousness of the creators.Three principles are that creators should pay attention to in the process of historical painting creation: first,the creators of historical paintings need to respect the historical truth.Secondly,the emotion of historical painting should be considered from two aspects: universal emotion and special emotion.Finally,understanding and learning Confucianism is conducive to the creation of historical paintings.
