With the enhancement of China’s comprehensive national strength,the international “Chinese fever” has gradually increased.This has made the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language flourish.The teaching method of Chinese as a Second Language has been innovated and developed,professor Galal Walker and his team at the Ohio State University have explored the linguistic structure,form and meaning of performing cultural pedagogy.Although the teaching method has not been produced for a long time,it advocates learning language by practicing language behavior,it has achieved a relatively outstanding teaching effect in the teaching practice in the United States.In recent years,due to the close cooperation with domestic teaching,it has been accepted by more and more domestic foreign language experts,scholars and teachers.In the teaching Chinese as a foreign language,the status of cultural teaching is self-evident,because language is a part of culture and the two are inseparable.However,due to the complexity of cultural content,teaching is often not taught systematically like phonology,vocabulary,and grammar.This part of the food culture that is of great interest to international students has not achieved a good teaching effect.Therefore,this article uses the new teaching method,named performed culture approach,to carry out the teaching design of the Chinese Diet culture.Through this teaching method,it can improve students’ interest in learning so that they can acquire the ability to communicate in the cultural environment of the target language.This first chapter introduces the related theories of performed culture approach,introduces its basic connotation,teaching philosophy and teaching model,and compares it with the current methods of listening and speaking,communicative approach and mission task based teaching methods.Then it expounds the relationship between Chinese diet culture and performed culture approach.It simply explains the concept and status of Chinese diet culture,and then analyzes the necessity of applying the performed culture approach to the teaching of diet culture.Afterwards,we selected a lesson in “Experiencing Chinese – Studying Abroad” “Roast Duck is Delicious” and applied the teaching method of performed culture approach.We conducted a simple analysis of the teaching objectives and teaching objects,and we will carry out the performed culture approach was applied to the implementation of diet culture teaching.Afterwards,teaching expectations were explained.Problems that may arise in the application process were briefly listed,and some inspirations for future cultural education were also drawn.Then,there are some suggestions on how to teach Chinese culture in language teaching.This article mainly discusses the practical application of performed culture approach in diet culture teaching.It hopes to provide some inspiration for the future Chinese food culture teaching and contributes to effectively improving learners’ Chinese proficiency. |
