Performed Culture Approach, founded by professor Galal Walker, expert of the American sinology of east Asian languages and literature at The Ohio State University, is an emerging second language teaching method. In recent years, it has raised more and more attention in the field of Chinese teaching in United States and also been applied into experimental operations in some colleges, but extremely limited overseas. Based on the teaching experience in Kenya, the author sums up researches, as well as innovation of performed cultural approach, designs a complete teaching project and applies to Chinese teaching practice, and finally enriches Performed Culture Approach and make it suitable for overseas Chinese language teaching.This research adopts the method of combining teaching theory and teaching practice, and systematically elaborates Performed Culture Approach on establishment and development, basic kernel, teaching mode and strategies, demonstrating the significance of communication theory in Chinese language teaching field from perspective of philosophy Taking Conversational Chinese 301 published by Beijing Language and Culture University press as reference, the author designs the teaching projects about social subjects for Kenyatta University Confucius Institute certificate class, presents details of teaching theory and practice on the theme of shopping, and analyzes teaching effectiveness and students' feedback.This paper consists of five parts:the first part introduces the research background and significance, classifies and summarizes the present research achievements by retrieving all related documents of Performed Culture Approach; At the beginning of the second part, the paper summarizes establishment and development, basic kernel, teaching mode and teaching strategy of performed cultural approach. Secondly, it combines the Communication theory of Marxist philosophy, elucidating the significance of social topics in Chinese language teaching and the feasibility to put into the practice; The third part, main body of the paper, elaborates analysis from preparation, planning, and implementation, based on seven teaching links put forward by the Instructional Design for International Chinese. On the basis of analyzing teaching object and teaching context, this part formulates the teaching objective, and designs a complete teaching process with the corresponding evaluation scheme according to the theme of shopping in Conversational Chinese 301; The fourth part puts designed teaching plan into practice, and assess students'learning effectiveness, as well as after-class feedback; The last part does a brief summary, and points out the deficiency of the whole thesis.
