A Report On Interpreting For The Israeli Company Logical Form

This report is based on the author's experience of interpreting for an Israeli network security company Logical Form.In this interpreting task,the author's main responsibility was to help Logical Form communicate with Chinese companies,discuss possible cooperation and finally establish an Israeli-Chinese joint venture.The author used the interpretive theory,one of the most widely recognized interpretation theories in guiding the practice of interpreting.According to the interpretive theory,interpretation is about expressing sense;it is the interpreters' explanation of the source language.What should be pursued is not the equivalence of language units,but the equivalence of language sense and effect.In this report,the author mainly focuses on the three procedures of interpretation,namely,comprehension,deverbalization and re-expression.The three procedures are discussed in terms of the ways they are applied to the interpreting task,especially in consecutive conference interpretation,in the aspects of cognitive complement,sense and re-expression strategies respectively.This report is divided into four parts.The first chapter gives a brief introduction to the task.The second chapter introduces the origin and the main concepts of the interpretive theory.The third chapter discusses the application of the interpretive theory in practice.The fourth chapter takes this task as an example and brings up the problems emerging during interpretation as well as its corresponding solutions.In the last part,the author summarizes this report.
