Translation Practice Report On Tianjin University News From The Perspective Of Memetics

In recent years,with the deepening of internationalization,many top universities in China have launched their internationalization strategies and commenced to construct world-renowned high-level universities.As a convenient channel for people to have a good command of the development of universities,the English website of universities plays a more and more important role in international cooperation.However,at present,theory studies on news translation mainly focus on variation theory and equivalence theory,thus lacking of theoretical innovation.Given that,the author tries to to study news translation from a new perspective of memetics which aims at discussing the issues that occur in the process of campus English websites translation and under the guidance of memes theory,the translator tries to select the proper translation strategies.Memetics is not a single theory;instead,it combines translation theories,translation strategies,translation norms,and translation values.By adopting various kinds of translation strategies and translation methods,translator should select proper translation strategies and methods to translate those culture-loaded words and sentences as well as the whole passage.Memetics discusses gene phenomenon in the applicability of the thought and culture dissemination,in which memes spread from one transmitter(host)to another,and then to another new transmitter(host).The constant spread results in the new emergence of memes which eventually become strong memes.This study intends to investigate the translation strategies of news translation on the basis of memetics theory from the following aspects: memes of vocabulary,sentence patterns,structure pattern and information pattern by analyzing the news translation of Tianjin University,which ensures the effetiveness and accuracy of translation.This paper is composed on the basis of the writer's translation practice of campus English websites in Tianjin University,and it is mainly divided into five parts.The first part is about the task description;the second part is translation process;Part Three is about the introduction of meme theory;Part Four is the main part which talks about case analysis,and the author gives specific examples to analyze the helpful guidance of memetics;and the last part is the summary of the translation practice.
