This is a translation reportfrom the second chapter of Insurance Law in a Nutshell co-authored by Professor John F.Dobbyn and Christopher C.French.As one of the law in a nutshell series,it has a comprehensive discussion of American insurance law.Chinese readers would also find it helpful to have a quick grasp of US insurance law.Insurable interest is a basic principle of US insurance law and Chinese insurance law as well.It maintains the stable operation of insurance industry by preventing moral hazard and unjust enrichment.The author of this translation report took the second chapter as an example to address the unequivalence of legal terminology.After illustrates unequivalent legal terminologies,the author analyzes how original and target language can affect choices of terminologies and gives suggestions to these problems.The author proves the expertise of legal translation by comparing different translation versions.Finally,the author mentions the problems that could not be solved during this translation.
