| Max Scheler was greatly influenced by Nietzsche’s concept of Resentment.Nietzsche regarded resentment as the source of Christian moral.But as a Catholic,Scheler turned to preserve the Christian moral persistently.Therefore,Scheler need to analyze the resentment more deeply and inherently.After research the formation mechanism,structure and reason of resentment profoundly,he leading the research of resentment as a kind of emotion into a broader academic dimension and combining to the modernity.Scheler reject Nietzsche’s view that Christian love is the most delicate“flower of ressenriment”.He criticize the humanitarian love and think this is a real product of resentment.And eventually lead to a spiritual feature of man in the age of Capitalism.person’s feeling has its own order,and value as for a priori content in feeling,also has a hierarchical ranks.People’s heart can obey the ranks essentially,and follow the preferring principle.In the modern society,however,the consciousness of value in people’s heart has already distorted,and raise the negative value,depreciate the positive value.People become preferring the sensory value rather than the spiritual value.From this Scheler put forward his view that resentment is a source of value-reverse.As a self-poisoning of the mind,resentment also infect others and cause the value-reverse.What follows next is the reverse of social ethical value.Finally people will move towards the decline of life inevitably. |
