Of Resentment

Today, moral language and moral practice in a state of great confusion and disorderly, people debating in public and private areas with fragmented moral language , we do live in a moral dilemma period. This predicament is due to the social transformation of modern society which does not simply transform and establish political economic mechanism, which also forms and establishes modern human ethos type. And the latter is more fundamental and significant.Modern society is concerned about modern life and mode of human existence,the character is substantially reflected in the human ethos--such as feeling,value, and world outlook. So the psychological order of modern society (mind-set temperament, experience structures, ethos) can sneak a peek at the modern spiritual depth and the crux of modern moral.Scholars in the West, such as Nietzsche and Scheler, do ethical research into the feeling of resentment by examining social issues , and see the greattheoretical significance of the term --resentment. Virtue and emotion areclosely related, and resentment is the destructive factor of feeling. Resentment has immoral motives from the very beginning, and start with deviating from the moral direction. It is a source of moral cheating and value deceiving.In traditional society, people's ethos is a sense of shame, which leads to positive self-worth; In modern society, resentment rises to be the dominant ethos, which denies the values of others. Modern human, in essence, is full of resentment, and has body and soul separated. Our moral confusion is rooted in ethos which is main part of moral full of resentment, and the fall of spirit and soul. The possibility of developing the feeling of resentment and person with such kind of feeling form the foundation of our value judgment .Because of the accumulating of resentment, our life and social system are in the middle of resentment.Emergence of resentment and corruption of moral , in essence, is the ignorance of moral regulation which is a universal principle binding on all groups, organizations and nationalities and displaying the inherent law of human life. In term of its function as a motive in one' s mind, ethics regulation is a law of action. Moral motivation is based on the respect of role, it is an obligation rules for every limited presence. Motivation ethics laid the moral judgment on the good emotions; however resentment is based on the abusing and indulging of personal feeling which is the will of emotional impulse, and also build the moral judgment on the evil emotions. So it is not only sentimental, unreliable, but also evil, reversal and deceptive.Keeping good folkway, and pure people, we had to establish a moral responsibility awareness for historical missions; we should not go beyond Kant' s absolute command, because the causes of all the reason in modern society could be found according to it.
