Abstract/Summary:
Nineteenth Century is a critical period of British Modernization,with the development of British industry,Child-Labor employment was becoming more and more common.Factory Employment not only restricted children physical development,but also deprived them of being educated,which arose questions such as intellectual desolation and ciminal rates etc,.From eighteenth century,some humanitarian activist took the first in improving Child-Labor’s condition,which hasten Factory Acts appear on the stage.As a typical representative,Factory School can reflect the effects of government intervene.Introduction illustrates the reason of choosing the topic,points out the research meaning,introduses aboard research state and Identifies research objects and methods.The first chapter analyzes the historical background of Factory School.The injury to the child’s physical and mental health caused by the abuse of the factory owner;A series of factory laws enacted by the British government;As a carrier of the school education system in the factory School--Half Time system.The second chapter divides Factory School into two stages and analyzes the decline and its reason.From late eighteenth Century to late 1830 s,Modern Factory Schools mainly include the strength of the local implementation of the long control of the school,with the characteristics of large scale,absorption of students and Curriculum;The second phase of the factory school in the mid 1830 s,During this period,most of the school was founded on the basis of factory law.Therefore,It is quite common for the poor quality and performance.As the product under the special historical environment,the decline of Factory School is the result of subjective and objective factors and having its historical inevitability.The third chapter describes the effect of valuation and supervision of inspection system since 1833,and then analyzes the problems and the historical reasons in the middle and late 1830 s.The fourth chapter discusses the contribution made by the Factory School to the improvement of child labor:To a certain extent to avoid the child beingoverworked;The early practice of factory owners to train future workers;Promoting the secularization of British education;Making contribution to local education.Conclusion evaluates pros and cons of Factory School and analyzes its meaning in this special historical environment;The author believes that its role is not limited to the scope of being degraded,the School is also in the process of reducing child labor injury and promoting their education.All in all,Factory School had a special historical mission in the process of modernization in nineteenth Century.
