Idiom Translation From The Perspective Of Cultural Turn

Translation and culture is closely related with each other.Mainly research on relationship between culture and translation began from the ’80s and ’90s of the 20th century.In 1990 Susan Bassnett and Andre Lefevere’s had wrote an essay collection called《Translation.History.Culture》,in which they called for translation scholars to study the affect of the translation on culture.Since the 1990’s《Cultural Turning》many literary work began to appear which were about culture problems,also discussion about translation history and translation method began to pay attention on culture problems.Culture school start from macro perspective,major events,politics,literature,history and other side to emphasis the position of culture in translation and take translation as the macro culture’s conversion.They change the importance of translation research from original work to translation work,from author to translator,from primitive culture to the culture of the translation language so as to have new understanding about position and effect of translation and translator.For culture school,innate character of translation is cultural translation.In recent years,the translation and culture has become important research subject in the translation industry.The research upsurge even be called as the "cultural turn" of translation studies,it have deep significance on opening of translation study’s new vision and advocate multiculturalism.This paper based on bilingual corpus of"Wolf Totem".Analyzed sayings and its inner Mongolian and Cyrillic translation appeared in the original paper.Also combine with the theory of Susan Bassnet and Andre lefevere’s《cultural turning of translation》to do research of the Chinese saying’s translation method.Apart from the introduction,paper consists of three parts.In the introduction have introduced the reason of choosing the topic,current situation of research,significance,purpose,research methods,methods and philosophy as well as the concept of creating "Wolf Totem" corpus definition.The first part is mainly comparison and analysis of the Chinese-Mongolian Sayings.In chapter one,made comparison and analysis on Chinese-Mongolian sayings.In chapter two,mainly analyzed sayings in "Wolf Totem" and it’s translation situation.In chapter three,fromthe view of "cultural turning" explained the method of translate Chinese sayings into Mongolian.In the conclusion part made summary on the whole paper.The paper only covers cultural relations of the main sayings cannot cover the whole research area.
