Development And Application Of Rehabilitation Care Knowledge-attitude-practice Questionnaire For Primary Caregivers Of Children With Burns

Objective1.To develop a rehabilitation care knowledge-attitude-practice(KAP)questionnaire for primary caregivers of children with burns,and the reliability and validity of the questionnaire were tested.2.To analyze the status and correlations of knowledge,attitude and practice of rehabilitation care for primary caregivers of children with burns.3.To explore the factors that affecting the knowledge,attitude and practice level of rehabilitation care for primary caregivers of children with burns.Methods1.Guided by the theory framework of Knowledge-Attitude-Practice,combining burn related guidelines and literature,the item pool of rehabilitation care KAP questionnaire for primary caregivers of children with burns was formed through group discussion.2.Twenty-two experts in burns and nursing field were invited to conduct two rounds of consultations through the Delphi method,and the reliability and validity of the questionnaire were evaluated.Finally,we have obtained the final draft of rehabilitation care KAP questionnaire for primary caregivers of children with burns.3.With the convenience sampling method,the primary caregivers of 293 burn children from three burn units of a tertiary hospital in Guangzhou were investigated by using the rehabilitation care KAP questionnaire and the self-designed general information questionnaire,and their KAP status and influencing factors were analyzed too.Results1.Through literature research and group discussion,the item pool of the KAP questionnaire included 3 dimensions and a total of 50 items.2.The effective response rates of the two rounds of expert consultation were 100%and81.82%respectively,and the rates of expert advice were 63.64%and 44.44%respectively.The mean values of expert authority coefficient were 0.915 and 0.925,respectively.The mean scores of items relevance were 4.50 and 4.69,and the mean scores of items importance were 4.47 and 4.63,respectively.The mean variation coefficient values of items correlation evaluation were 0.15 and 0.09,and the mean variation coefficient values of items importance evaluation were 0.16 and 0.10,respectively.The Kendall's W of items relevance evaluation were 0.140 and 0.301,and the Kendall's W of items importance evaluation were 0.153 and 0.301,respectively.And the initial rehabilitation care KAP questionnaire for primary caregiver of children with burns was included 3 dimensions and 40 items.3.Total four items were deleted after screening by critical ratio method,correlation coefficient method,Cronbach's alpha coefficient method and exploratory factor analysis.Finally,the dimension of rehabilitation care knowledge included 18 items,3common factors were extracted,and explained for 66.254%variance.The dimension of rehabilitation care attitude included 7 items,1 common factor was extracted,and explained for 47.957%variance.The dimension of rehabilitation care practice included11 items,1 common factor was extracted,and explained for 56.708%variance.The total content validity index(S-CVI)was 0.97,and the content validity index(I-CVI)of each item was 0.94?1.00.the total Cronbach's?coefficient was 0.956,and that of the3 dimensions was 0.807?0.943.And the total split-half reliability coefficient was0.970,and that of the 3 dimensions was 0.825?0.954.4.The mean score of the total caregivers was(115.37±22.43),with the score rate was64.09%.Additionally,the average scores of rehabilitation care knowledge,attitude and practice were(48.97±14.06),(26.46±4.06)and(39.94±7.62),and the score rates were54.41%,75.60%%and 72.62%respectively.5.The results of spearman correlation analysis showed that there was a positive association between caregiver's rehabilitation care knowledge,attitude and practice,and the correlation coefficient(r)were 0.556,0.517 and 0.651,respectively,all of that were statistically significant(P<0.01).6.Multivariate analysis results showed that factors related to the rehabilitation care knowledge of caregivers included:caregiver's age,the relationship between caregiver and child,education background,occupation,experience in rehabilitation hospital or rehabilitation department,ways to gain knowledge and the number of hospitalizations for burns(R~2=0.464).The factors related to the rehabilitation care attitude of caregivers included:the relationship between caregiver and child,education background,experience in rehabilitation hospital or rehabilitation department and ways to gain knowledge(R~2=0.372).And factors related to the rehabilitation care practice of caregivers included:caregiver's age,the relationship between caregiver and child,education background,ways to gain knowledge and the burned area(R~2=0.364).Conclusion1.The rehabilitation care KAP questionnaire for primary caregivers of children with burns developed in this study has good reliability and validity,and can be used as a tool to evaluate the rehabilitation knowledge,attitude and practice of primary caregivers of children with burns.2.The knowledge-attitude-practice of rehabilitation care for the primary caregivers of children with burns was at the middle lower level,among which the attitude level of rehabilitation care was the highest and the knowledge level of rehabilitation care was the lowest.There was a positive correlation between caregiver's knowledge,attitude and practice level of rehabilitation care.3.The factors related to the rehabilitation care knowledge,attitude or practice of caregivers included:caregiver's age,the relationship between caregiver and child,education background,occupation,experience in rehabilitation hospital or rehabilitation department,ways to gain knowledge,the number of hospitalizations for burns and the burned area.
