Objective: To study the distribution of TCM syndrome types in elderly patients with essential hypertension, and to explore the relationship between different syndrome types and brachio-ankle pulse wave velocity(ba PWV)and arteriosclerosis index(AI).Provides an objective basis for identifying TCM syndrome types and provides treatment ideas for elderly patients with essential hypertension with ba PWV and/or AI abnormalities. Methods: According to the "Guidelines for Clinical Research of New Drugs in Traditional Chinese Medicine"(2002 edition),160 cases of elderly patients with essential hypertension were divided into liver fire stagnation group, yin deficiency and yang hyperactivity group, phlegm dampness group and Yin and yang deficiency group. The relevant medical history and data were collected.SPSS 21.0 was used for statistical analysis.Results:(1)Elderly patients with essential hypertension syndrome type distribution accounted for are compared from large to small: phlegm and dampness group(34.4%),yin deficiency and yang hyperactivity group(26.3%),yin and yang deficiency group(23.8%),liver fire hyperactivity group(15.6%).(2)The TCM syndrome types of elderly patients with essential hypertension according to the level of ba PWV from high to low are: phlegm and dampness group(2467.51±715.88mm/s),yin and yang deficiency group(2075.21±550.68mm/s),liver fire hyperactivity group(2024.64±324.04mm/s),yin deficiency and yang hyperactivity group(1923.02±375.67mm/s).The level of ba PWV in phlegm and dampness group was significantly higher than the others(P<0.05).(3)The TCM syndrome types of elderly patients with essential hypertensionaccording to the level of AI from high to low are: liver fire hyperactivity group(3.40±1.11),phlegm and dampness group(3.03±1.01),yin deficiency and yang hyperactivity group(2.94)±0.98),yin and yang deficiency group(2.90±1.15).P>0.05 between groups,no statistical significance.(4)Albumin(ALB),gamma glutamyl transpeptidase(GGT)and aspartate aminotransferase(AST)were linearly correlated with ba PWV(P<0.05).ALB and GGT were negatively correlated with ba PWV.AST was positively correlated with ba PWV.(5)High-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C),total cholesterol(TC)and uric acid(UA)were linearly correlated with AI(P<0.05).TC and UA were positively correlated with AI.HDL-C was negatively correlated with AI.Conclusion:(1)The level of ba PWV in elderly patients with essential hypertension is closely related to the phlegm and dampness group.(2)There was no significant difference in AI level among different syndromes of senile essential hypertension.(3)The level of ba PWV in elderly patients with essential hypertension was negatively correlated with ALB and GGT,and positively correlated with AST.And ALB has a greater impact on the level of ba PWV.(4)The level of AI in elderly patients with essential hypertension was positively correlated with TC and UA,and negatively correlated with HDL-C.And HDL-C has a greater impact on the level of AI.
