In recent years, the number of children with leukemia has increased by 10 thousand to 20 thousand every year. Our country pays more and more attention to the treatment for children with leukemia.Children not only have to bear the harm of leukemia to their physical health, but also have to face a variety of painful treatment methods. As a result, they are under great psychological pressure, which might lead to psychological problems such as anxiety.Childhood is the most important stage of life development,so the anxious emotion would negatively impact on the physical and mental development of children with leukemia, resulting in their loss of normal and rational social function. Therefore, the intervention of clinical social workers is particularly important when it comes to the treatment for children with leukemia.Clinical social work aims to guide patients to understand and release negative emotion,as well as assist medical staff to provide the feasible treatment plans for patients.Through psychological counseling and other treatments of clinical social workers, the degree of anxiety could be effectively alleviated,so that children with leukemia can establish healthy psychological states, and thus better adapting to social life in the future.Based on the internship in hospital C of Nanchang, this paper discusses how the clinical social worker can relieve the anxiety of children with leukemia. In the early stage, literature review was used to understand the corresponding theories and current research situation.Secondly, case study established a good professional relationship with the case owner and interviews. In the middle of the study, the subject was firstly pretested by the anxiety scale, and the narrative therapy theory was used to guide the subject and make him aware of his own anxiety. After further analysis of the subject's anxiety degree, the author guided the subject to realize that his own irrational belief is the root cause of his anxiety, and then used rational emotive therapy to help the subject to identify his irrational belief and re-establish reasonable belief. Then, with the help of social support theory, the rational belief of the subject was consolidated, and thepost-test of the anxiety table of the subject was carried out.Through the comparison of the pretest data collected before and after the emotional adjustment, the anxiety level of the subject was obviously reduced, which proved that the subject's anxiety was alleviated to a certain extent. In the later stage of the study, the author evaluated the process of intervention and the results of intervention, and followed up the case of the subject returning to school. The author found that the subject could adjust his own emotions properly and be able to adapt to the current life. The results of this study show that: first, clinical social workers can timely identify and control the anxiety of children with leukemia, improve their potential capabilities,so as to curb the adverse factors that hinder their social function, and promote their abilities to adapt themselves to the society.Second, the personal states of the subject can be combined with the case study, which helps to customize treatment plan.Third, the rational emotive therapy used in this case can alleviate the anxiety of children with leukemia to a certain extent, and achieved the purpose of alleviating the anxiety of children with leukemia. Finally, the author summarized and reflected on the research, and put forward the corresponding research suggestions for the future development of similar services to accumulate practical experience.
