Independent medical schools are the main channels for the cultivation of medical talents in China.The reform of higher education system since the end of 1990 s promoted the merger of independent medical schools and comprehensive universities,broke the long-term pattern that independent medical schools running of medical education.and thus formed two types of medical schools:Independent medical university and medical department of comprehensive university.In recent years,the quality revolution of undergraduate education has intensified,and higher education has evolved from an extended development to an intensive development.From first-class universities and first-class disciplines in the “Double First-Class”program to 10,000 national-level first-class major and 10,000 provincial first-class major in the “Double Ten Thousand” program,we can see that major construction is the foundation of the intensive development of higher education.Major is the basic unit and core element of talent training in universities,medical school of comprehensive universities hasan elite education model focusing on the cultivation of research-oriented medical talents.Therefore,the major setting of independent medical schools is worthy of attention.The rationality of the major setting of independent medical schools directly affects the development of local medical and health undertakings.Optimizing the major setting is the vital way for Chinese independent medical schools to improve the quality of their education standard talent training.In this study,49 independent medical schools with a long history and a stable school scale are selected as the research object.First,the research progress of the undergraduate major setting is sorted out,a literature review is formed and relevant concepts are defined.Secondly,divide the development of medical schools in China into four periods,and explore the development and causes of each period;on the basis of investigation and research,the number of majors,professional structure,types of majors,and majors of independent medical schools in China A systematic analysis was made on the professional setting conditions such as the addition and cancellation,the construction of first-class majors,etc.The following conclusions are drawn through the above research:First,through the analysis of the historical development of undergraduate professional settings in medical colleges in China,the changes of the professional setting management mode in medical colleges are summarized.The second is to analyze the situation of the professionalsettings of independent medical schools in China,and find that the undergraduate professional settings of independent medical schools have problems such as unreasonable development of the number of majors,slow speed of cancellation of majors,excessive and comprehensive discipline coverage,and fading of school characteristics.And on the basis of relevant research,it proposes countermeasures and suggestions for the optimization of the professional settings of independent medical schools in China: first,the number of majors is adjusted reasonably,and the proportion of medical related majors is increased;second,a dynamic professional adjustment mechanism is established to optimize the professional structure from the supply side;third It is to give play to the leading role of academic power in professional settings;Fourth,to establish a student-centered professional adjustment multi-party supervision mechanism.
