Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the genotype and allele frequency of DVWA gene rs7639618 polymorphism in Hui population in Qinghai province. To explore whether there is a correlation between DVWA(rs7639618)gene polymorphism and primary knee osteoarthritis(KOA)in Hui population of Qinghai province. Methods: Firstly, the blood samples and case data were collected from patients and healthy controls who met the criteria for knee osteoarthritis of the Chinese Medical Association Rheumatology Branch.Secondly,PCR-RFLP was performed to genotype the amplified fragment of the DVWA gene(rs7639618)locus.Thirdly,this sample representativeness was analyzed by Hairdy-Weinberg Equilibrium Anastomosis Test. Finally, the correlation between DVWA gene polymorphism and knee osteoarthritis was analyzed using statistical methods. Results: The DVWA gene(rs7639618)G and A allele distributions were significantly different between the experimental group and the control group(X2=4.52,P<0.05).The G allele may be a susceptible gene for knee osteoarthritis. In severe KOA patients, the DVWA gene rs7639618-A allele is more frequently distributed(P<0.05).The obese population in the case group was relatively large, and there was a remarkable difference with the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion: DVWA(rs7639618)gene polymorphism was associated with the development and severity of primary knee OA in Hui population in Qinghai province.Obesity also increased the risk of primary KOA in Hui population in Qinghai province.
