Research On Scientific Research Competitiveness Of A Local Medical College

Objective:Based on the ESI and InCites databases,this article studies the scientific research competitiveness of a local medical school from the perspective of academic papers.Provide scientific,accurate and up-to-date information for local medical colleges and universities,and make recommendations based on the status and issues of scientific research competitiveness,with a view to providing reference for scientific research management decisions and related research competitiveness research of a local medical college.Methods:1.Bibliometrics.Based on the information metrology method system,this paper used the bibliometrics and analysis platform and software tools,including ESI and InCites databases,to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the scientific research competitiveness of a medical university from the perspectives of scientific research productivity,influence and cooperation power,as well as potential discipline and dominant discipline.2.Statistical analysis.In calculating the potential value of ESI disciplines,this article is determined by analyzing the ratio of the frequency of citations from a subject in a local medical college to the ESI threshold of the discipline.Its calculation formula is: ESI subject potential value = total citations of an institution in an ESI discipline / the total number of citations of the last 1% of the institution's last institution("threshold").In this paper,SPSS22.0 statistical software was also used for statistical analysis.Spearman correlation analysis was used to analyze the correlation between normalized citation influence(CNCI)and indicators related to academic influence,and the test level ? = 0.05.Results:1.Research productivity and influence.Using ESI and InCites databases as data sources,the research productivity and influence of a local medical college from 2008 to 2018 were analyzed.Although the number of WoS papers increased year by year,only 26.73% of the articles were published in Q1 journals,and the citation frequency and number of highly cited papers were also relatively low.2.Scientific research cooperation.From 2008 to 2018,Capital Medical University and Harvard University were the most productive international institutions and mainland institutions in collaboration with a local medical school,respectively.The mainland institution with the highest citation influence in cooperation with a local medical university is Shanghai Jiao Tong university,whose citation influence is 1.77.The international university with the highest citation influence in cooperation with a local medical school is Michigan state university(3.34 citation influence).3.Potential discipline and advantage discipline.By calculating the potential value of a local medical school,it is found that the potential value of pharmacology and toxicology is the largest,with a potential value of 0.536.As a dominant discipline,clinical medicine has its main research fields in the field of oncology.Fund-funded thesis and international cooperation are also considerable.However,compared with the other six provincial medical universities in China,it is found that there is still much room for improvement in clinical medicine.Conclusions:1.In this local medical school,the development of scientific research productivity and influence is not equal,and relevant management departments should establish a scientific scientific research evaluation system.At the same time,the improvement of a reasonable scientific research reward mechanism will help local medical colleges and universities maintain a sustained and sound development trend.2.Guide scientific researchers to submit articles in a standardized manner,and pay attention to the standard signature and the name of the publishing institution.Researchers are also encouraged to apply for more projects funded by the national natural science foundation of China(NSFC)to create a research atmosphere in which colleges and universities devote themselves to research.3.Strengthen domestic and foreign cooperation in scientific research and improve the level of discipline research through multiple channels.The selection of cooperative institutions should take into account the scientific research level of cooperative institutions to enhance the effectiveness of cooperation.Encourage university researchers to pay close attention to the international frontier of research field,and promote the exchange and communication between domestic and foreign research institutions and teams/staff.4.Colleges and universities should attach importance to the development and construction of potential disciplines,and require scientific research managers in universities to study the correspondence between potential disciplines and the discipline construction classification planned by the university,and put forward some guiding opinions.At the same time,we will continue to steadily develop and improve our superior disciplines and radiate them to related disciplines.
