Objective:We sought to investigate the current opinions on the management of maternal hyperthyroidism during lactation in Chongqing,China.Methods:700 doctors in Chongqing were invited to participate in an online survey to collect their opinions on the management of hyperthyroidism during lactation from April 1stt to May 31th,2018.Subgroup analysis was carried out according to the specialties,hospitals and professional ranks.Results:A total of 601 valid questionnaires were received.About half of the respondents did not recommend breastfeeding in uncontrolled maternal hyperthyroidism with or without anti-thyroid drug therapy.The answer“uncertain”was the most common among non-endocrinologists and junior doctors.79.1%of respondents used anti-thyroid drugs as the first-line therapy?methimazole by 35.8%and propylthiouracil by 43.3%?.56 out 601 respondents still chose“radioactive iodine”to treat hyperthyroidism during lactation,most of them were non-endocrinologists?n=49?.75%of respondents suggested taking anti-thyroid drugs after breastfeeding.Low iodine diet was the first frequent recommendation of respondents?47.3%?.96.8%of respondents suggested that endocrinologists should take part in hyperthyroidism health education during lactation.Conclusion:The standardized management of maternal hyperthyroidism during lactation still needs to be developed.
