With the influence of economic globalization,English proficiency is a necessary skill to improve professional and technical ability and workplace competitiveness.Specialized languages are increasingly valued,and compound talents with both specialized knowledge and English ability are increasingly popular.Medical science is a highly professional field,and the medical cooperation and exchanges between China and the world are increasing day by day.The requirements for medical talents are becoming more and more strict,and the English quality of medical talents is also becoming higher and higher.In recent years,Medical English(ME)courses for medical students have been offered by domestic and overseas medical colleges and universities.However,most of the needs analysis studies on medical English are aimed at undergraduate medical students and vocational medical students,and that of second vocational medical students is very little.Secondary vocational medical students will also become a member of the healthcare field in the future.Their needs should be given the same attention and due treatment.Therefore,through needs analysis survey of secondary vocational medical students,this thesis provides some effective and operable suggestions for the establishment of medical English courses for them.This research adopts the research methods of questionnaire and interview,takes secondary vocational medical students as the research subject,and takes Hutchinson and Waters' needs analysis model as the framework to design Medical English Course Needs Analysis Questionnaire for Secondary Vocational Medical Students.In this study,632 students were selected as the main respondents.632 questionnaires were issued and 632 questionnaires were collected.After inspection and screening,596 questionnaires were valid and the effective rate was 94.3%.The three questions concerned in this study are :(1)What are target needs and learning needs of ME course for secondary vocational medical students?(2)What are the learning attitudes to and motivations of secondary vocational medical students for ME course?(3)Why do secondary vocational medical students need ME course?The research results show that secondary vocational medical students have clear target needs for ME,which are mainly reflected in their future work and professional selfimprovement.Corresponding to these target needs,secondary vocational medical students know that their ME learning needs are embodied in the gap between their existing level and the required level,and are willing to spend time and energy to study it,hoping to learn terms and expressions related to content of their professional knowledge and skills in the ME class.Meanwhile,secondary vocational medical students are generally optimistic about ME,and hope that ME teachers will mainly teach in English supplemented with Chinese in class,and expect the school to give support to this course.Besides,due to the increasingly fierce social competition and increasingly strict requirements for medical workers,secondary vocational medical students need to learn more advanced international medical professional knowledge and skills through learning ME course to better adapt to the job requirements and improve their comprehensive quality and occupational competitiveness in the future.According to the survey,this article puts forward some operable suggestions for secondary vocational medical students from the curriculum,teaching,teacher team construction,etc.Curriculum should satisfy the needs of students' goals for the future work and further education and development and to meet the needs of students' learning teaching outline,teaching target,teaching plan,etc.based on needs analysis.Teachers need to stimulate students' interests and inner motivations,create a good classroom atmosphere,guide students to effectively use learning strategies,effectively use advanced teaching methods and means,and pay attention to their humanistic quality improvement.Schools should attach more importance to the construction of ME teachers and provide more effective learning resources and environment for students.
