ObjectsIn this study, patients with knee osteoarthritis(KOA)with qi stagnation and blood stasis were studied using a randomized controlled trial clinical research method. The visual analogue scale(VAS)and the Western Ontario and Mc Master Universities Osteoarthritis index(WOMAC)were used before, during and after treatment,to investigate the clinical efficacy of Professor Peng Dezhong's Grasping Patella,Plucking Sinew and Shuman Therapy, with a view to making a systematic, objective and scientific evaluation of the efficacy, providing a new and more effective clinical method for KOA treatment, and promoting the promotion and application of Professor Peng's experience in Tui Na.MethodsA total of 66 subjects who met the inclusion criteria for qi stagnation and blood stasis KOA and voluntarily participated from December 2018 to December 2019 were selected from the West China Hospital and the Third Affiliated Hospital of Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.Subjects were divided into experimental and control groups using a completely randomized method. The experimental group used Professor Peng Dezhong's Grasping Patella,Plucking Sinew and Shuman Therapy, while the control group used conventional tui na therapy. Both groups of subjects were treated 3 times a week,2weeks for 1 course and 2 consecutive courses for a total of 12 times.VAS score and WOMAC score were used to evaluate efficacy before treatment, after the first course of treatment, after the second course of treatment and at follow-up(4 weeks after the end of treatment)for both groups.Result1.The two groups were balanced, with a total of 32 cases in the experimental group and31 subjects in the control group included in the statistics analysis finally;2.The two groups of subjects were consistent and comparable at baseline(P > 0.05);3.Efficacy evaluation: 1)Within-group comparison:VAS score and WOMAC score of the experimental and control groups respectively after the first treatment session, the second treatment session and follow-up,were all significantly lower than before treatment(P<0.01).2)Comparison between groups: The VAS scores of the experimental group after the first treatment session, the second treatment session and the follow-up were better than thoseof the control group(P<0.01).The WOMAC scores of the experimental group and the control group were no statistical difference after the first treatment session(P>0.05),but the WOMAC scores of the experimental group after the second treatment and the follow-up were better than those of the control group(P<0.05).3)Efficiency: The total efficiency of the experimental group after treatment was 93.75% better than that of the control group by80.65%(P<0.05),but the total efficiency of the two groups at follow-up was 93.75% and77.42%,respectively,with no statistical difference(P>0.05).Conclusions1.Both the Professor Peng's Grasping Patella,Plucking Sinew and Shuman Therapy, and conventional tui na therapy can significantly improve pain, stiffness and functional activities in KOA patients with qi stagnation and blood stasis, with stable long-term efficacy;2.In terms of improving pain symptoms in KOA patients with qi stagnation and blood stasis,The Professor Peng's Grasping Patella,Plucking Sinew and Shuman Therapy is more effective than conventional massage, both in terms of its efficacy and long term results;3.The advantages that the Professor Peng's Grasping Patella,Plucking Sinew and Shuman Therapy improves stiffness and functional activities in KOA patients with qi stagnation and blood stasis can be reflected better than the conventional tui na therapy after a longer period of treatment.
