Objective: To observe the clinical effect of the treatment of chronic urticaria(CU)with syndrome of wind and dryness due to blood deficiency by using Jiegen method(use round-sharp needles to stimulate the special part of the back),to find an effective treatment plan for CU,and to better inherit and carry forward the treatment experience of traditional Chinese medicine specialist.Method: Sixty-six patients with CU in blood deficiency and wind-dryness were randomly divided into the control group and treatment group according to the random number table(33cases for each group).Finally,61 cases were completed,including31 cases in the control group and 30 cases in treatment group. The treatment group received the Jigen method therapy twice a week,30 minutes each time and for 4weeks,while the control group received Loratadine 10 mg each time, once a day for 4weeks.After treatment, observed the improvement of urticaria activity score(UAS),TCM symptoms and quality of life.Results:1.Baseline comparison before treatment: There were no significantly differences in age, gender, disease course, itching degree, number of wheals,USA,TCM symptom score and chronic urticaria quality of life score(CU-Q2 o L)in the two groups before treatment(P> 0.05).2.Comparison of UAS: After treatment, the USA of the two groups were significantly lower than that before treatment(P <0.05).After treatment, the UAS in the treatment group was significantly lower than that in the control group(P < 0.05),and the number of wheals and itching degree were significantly lower than before treatment(P <0.05).There was no significant difference in the valuation of number of wheals between the two groups after treatment(P> 0.05).The itching degree in the treatment group was significantly lower than that in the control group(P <0.05).3.Comparison of TCM symptom scores: After the treatment, the TCM symptom scores of the treatment group and the control group were both significantly lower thanthose before the treatment(P <0.05).The difference of TCM symptom score before and after treatment between the treatment group and control group was statistically significant(P <0.05).4.CU-Q2 o L comparison: After the treatment, the CU-Q2 o L scores of the treatment group and the control group were both significantly lower than those before the treatment(P <0.05).The CU-Q2 o L before and after treatment between the treatment group and control group was statistically significant(P <0.05).5.Clinical efficacy analysis: There were 1 recovered case,7 markedly effective cases,16 effective cases, and 7 ineffective cases in the control group, with a total effective rate of 77.4%;There were 4 recovered case,11 markedly effective cases,12 effective cases, and 3 ineffective cases in the treatment group, with a total effective rate of 90%.There was no significant difference in the total effective rate between the two groups(P> 0.05).6.Analysis of recurrence: The USA was evaluated again 1 month after the end of treatment, and the recurrence rate among the cured and markedly effective patients was calculated to be 75% in the control group and 20% in the treatment group. The recurrence rate of the treatment group was significantly lower than that of the control group(P>0.05).7.Safety analysis: The incidence of adverse reactions in the control group was 9.4%;the incidence of adverse reactions in the experimental group was 3.3%,and the comparison of adverse reaction rates between the two groups(P> 0.05)was not statistically significant.Conclusions:1.Jiegen method and Loratadine both can relieve the clinical symptoms and improve the quality of life of CU with blood vacuity and wind-dryness syndrome.However,root-severing method is superior to Loratadine in reducing itching, relieving TCM symptoms and improving the quality of life.2.The efficacy and safety of root-severing method is equivalent to that of loratadine in treating chronic urticaria in blood vacuity and wind-dryness.Root-severing can better reduce the recent recurrence rate.
