Clinical Study And Typical Case Analysis Of The Lateral Meniscus Injury Around The Popliteal Tendon Hole

Objective: To investigate the clinical characteristics of the lateral meniscus injury around the popliteal tendon hole,and introduce our experience of diagnosis and treatment.Methods: From June 2010 to June 2018,Total 35 cases of meniscus injury were diagnosed by arthroscopy in Shengjing Hospital Affiliated to China Medical University,accounting for 2.1% of the total meniscus injury in the same period.There were 19 males and 16 females with an average age of 36.23 years(19-53 years).The patients tended to be younger,Aged 20-45 years accounting for 91.5% of all the patients.In treatment,9 cases were treated with partial meniscectomy and 26 cases with all-inside suture.The IKDC and Lysholm scores of knee joint before and after operation(3 months,6 months,12 months)were compared in each group.Results: There was no significant difference in gender(P = 0.700),age(P = 0.574),preoperative Lysholm score(P = 0.355)and preoperative IKDC score(P = 0.910).Patients who underwent partial meniscectomy or all-inside meniscus suture had significant improvement in the postoperative Lysholm score and preoperative IKDC score,both of them had statistical significance differences at 3 months(Lysholm P=0.006,IKDC P<0.001),6 months(Lysholm P=0.002,IKDC P=0.006)and 12 months(Lysholm P<0.001,IKDC P<0.001)after operation.Conclusion:The pain and function of the knee joint were improved after the operation,no matter whether the lateral meniscus was removed or sutured.With the development of time,the pain and function of the knee joint were improved more obviously.Moreover,the effect of meniscus suturing was better than that of simple meniscectomy.
