Objective: To clarify the current status, influencing factors and relationship between personality characteristics, coping styles and quality of life of patients with enterostomy, and to verify whether coping styles play an intermediary role between personality traits and quality of life.It is hoped to provide reference basis for psychological care of patients with enterostomy, and to provide scientific reference basis for improving the prognostic quality of life of patients. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in 2018-2019,a total of 240post-ostomy patients were randomly selected from general surgery wards, ostomy clinics and ostomy homes of three grade-A general hospitals in Xi'an.General Information Questionnaire,Eysenck Personality Questionnaire(Chinese version),Medical Coping Questionnaire(MCMQ)and Stoma Patients Quality of Life Questionnaire(Stoma-QOL)were used to investigate the patients, and both of them coded and recorded the data.SPSS20.0 was used to analyze the data after checking. The personality type, coping style and quality of life of the patients underwent enterostomy were analyzed,as well as regression analysis.Structural equation modeling was used to test whether coping style played a mediating role between personality traits and quality of life. Results: In this study,a total of 240 questionnaires were distributed, and 235 were recovered,15 of which did not meet the requirements, and the remaining 220 were valid questionnaires, with a recovery rate of 91.7%.The general data of patients showed that there were slightly more male patients(58.6%)in the sample,156 patients(70.9%)were aged 45-59 and 60-75 years, and most of them were married(187 cases,85%),among them,207(94.1%)patients were han population,165(75%)were from rural areas,149(67.7%)were farmers,75.9% had a monthly income of less than 3,000,90% had medical insurance, and 174(79.1%)werepermanent colostomy patients,103(46.8%)patients had less than 3 months after ostomy,159(72.3%)patients did not need postoperative radiotherapy or chemotherapy,and38(17.3%)patients had postoperative complications,145(70%)ostomy patients occasionally or never participated in ostomy-related groups or lectures,163(74.1%)patients had partial or no knowledge of ostomy, and 164(74.5%)patients were basically or completely dependent on others for ostomy care.(1)Personality traits and influencing factors of enterostomy patients: The scores of psychoticism(4.04±2.01),the scores of introversion and extroversion(5.01±2.61),neuroticism(5.18±2.14)and concealment(4.17±2.15)were higher than those of the national norm, while introversion and concealment were lower than those of the national norm. All dimensions were significantly different from those of the National Norm(P<0.05).There were significant differences in personality traits between sexes and stoma time(P<0.05).(2)The scores of various dimensions and influencing factors of coping style of patients with enterostomy were 41.73±10.39,and face-to-face score of patients with enterostomy(15.82±3.91)were lower than the level of domestic norm; The avoidance score(12.19±2.71)and the yield score(11.02±2.81)were higher than the norm level in China. The difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The coping style of patients with enterostomy had statistical difference in education level and age(P<0.05).(3)The total score of quality of life(51.84 ± 5.76),the score of psychological burden(26.13±1.81)and the score of social intercourse(10.39±1.73)were found in the patients with enterostomy, the score for ostomy management(6.26±1.92)and for daily Living(7.83±1.74).And the quality of life in education, occupation, percapita monthly income, knowledge of ostomy knowledge, whether to participate in ostomy-related groups or lectures were statistically different(P<0.05).(4)The correlation analysis of personality characteristics, coping style and quality of life showed that psychoticism and neuroticism were negatively correlated with quality of life and its scores(P<0.05);Introversion and extroversion were positively correlatedwith quality of life and its scores(P<0.05);While face was positively correlated with quality of life and its scores(P<0.05);Avoidance and surrender were negatively correlated with quality of life and its scores P<0.05).The multiple regression analysis of personality, coping style and quality of life showed that neuroticism, avoidance and submission entered the regression equation,Which explained 48.3% of the variance of quality of life in patients with enterostomy neuroticism,Face to face enter regression equation explained 35.3% of the variation of psychological burden of patients with enterostomy,While avoidance entered regression equation explained 25.7% of the variation of social interaction of patients with enterostomy neuroticism,Yielding and avoidance entered the regression equation, which explained 36.6% of the variation of stoma management, and neuroticism, yielding and concealment entered the regression equation, which explained 20.1% of the variation of daily living. Results of structural equation modeling: The coping style of patients with enterostomy played a mediating role between personality traits and quality of life scores.Conclusion:(1)In terms of personality traits of patients with enterostomy, the patient's psychiatric, neurotic, and introverted personality traits are dominant, while extroverted and covert personality traits are at a disadvantage.(2)In terms of coping styles for patients with enterostomy, patients usually adopt avoiding and yielding coping styles, but patients have the willing to face positively.(3)Correlation analysis of personality traits, coping styles and quality of life in patients with enterostomy: quality of life is positively correlated with extroversion, concealment, and face presentation; And negatively correlated with mental quality, neuroticism, yielding, and avoidance.(4)The personality traits and coping styles of patients with enterostomy have a positive predictive effect on quality of life;Neuroticism, avoidance, and yielding have a negative predictive effect on the patient's quality of life;Neuroticism, negatively predicting the patient's psychological burden;Neuroticism, concealment, and avoidance have a negative predictive effect on the patient's social interaction;Neuroticism, yielding, and avoidance have a negative predictive effect on the patient's stoma management; And neuroticism, yielding, concealment have a negative predictive effect on the patient's dailyas a post-life,inside and out it hitive predictive effect on patients' quality of life. The coping style of ostomy patients plays an intermediary role between personality traits and quality of life scores. The personality traits of patients will affect their coping style scores, and coping styles will affect the quality of life scores of patients.
