ObjectivesThis study was aimed to investigate the demand for continuous care APP for patients with stroke and analyze its influencing factors, which would provide a theoretical basis for constructing a continuous care APP.MethodsA total of 444 patients with stroke, who were hospitalized in the Department of Neurology of a hospital in Guangzhou Province from September 2018 to October 2019,were consecutive enrolled by the method of convenient sampling.A self-developed questionnaire, called "Demand for Continuous Care APP for Stroke Patients",was used to investigate the demand for continuous care APP for stroke patients in a face-to-face manner. The data were analyzed by SPSS version 23.0software.The significance level of the test was ? = 0.05,and bilateral P<0.05 indicated statistically significant.Measurement data that met the normal distribution were expressed as mean ± standard deviation.Thet-test was used for comparison between the two groups and the ANOVA was used for comparison between multiple groups.Non-normally distributed measurement data was expressed by the median(M)and interquartile range(Q),and comparison between different groups were performed by Kruskal-Wallis test. The composition ratio of categorical data was expressed as a percentage, and chi-square test or the Kruskal-Wallis test was used for comparison between groups.Multiple linear regression was used to analyze the influencing factors of continuous care APP demand in stroke patients.ResultsThe age range of these 444 stroke patients was 22-94 years, with an average age of 67.78±13.03 years.Among them,256 cases were male, accounting for 57.7%,and the average score of the 444 stroke patients' demand for continuous care APP was 4.18 ± 0.61.The average score of stroke patients' demand for each dimension from high to low was:popularization of knowledge related to disease and health(4.65 ± 0.58);rehabilitation guidance(4.24±0.80);the nursing of complications(4.18±0.87);the nursing of life care(4.12±0.70);remote service through APP(4.05±0.79).The demand for remote service through APP mainly focused on those aspects, such as relapse risk assessment, medication reminders, popularization of stroke-related knowledge, blood pressureand glucose monitoring, online consultation,on-site nursing, emergency contact setting, etc. The results of univariate analysis showed that these variables,(gender, age, marital, occupation status, education level,Per capita monthly family income, current residence, combined atrial fibrillation, the level of daily living ability, disability, the assessment level of the risk of falling, pressure ulcer risk level, smoking, drinking, destination after discharge, different caregivers, the level of cognitive rehabilitation,follow-up compliance, willingness to use APP)had statistically significant differences in total demand for continuous care APP for patients with stroke(P <0.05).The results of multivariate analysis showed that these variables(gender, occupation,Per capita monthly family income, combined atrial fibrillation,follow-up compliance, first stroke, pressure ulcer risk level, the level of daily living ability, willingness to use APP)were included into the multiple linear regression equation, and explained 28.7% of the total variation.ConclusionsThe degree of demand for continuous care APP in stroke patients was at a high level, and the demand of patients for the content of continuing care APP was diverse. The stroke patients' needs for each dimension of the continuous care APP were ranked as follows from high to low: popularization of knowledge related to disease and health;rehabilitation guidance;the nursing of complications;the nursing of life care;remote service through APP.These variables(gender, occupation,Per capita monthly family income, combined atrial fibrillation,follow-up compliance, first stroke, pressure ulcer risk level, the level of daily living ability, willingness to use APP)were main factors that influenced the demand for continuous care APP in stroke patients.
