OBJECTIVEThis study investigates the relationship between family resilience, coping style, and social support by investigating the current status of family resilience in patients with rectal cancer enterostomy(RCE).The purpose of this study was to help nursing staff to identify the main influencing factors of family resilience of RCE patients. And attract medical staff pay attention to family toughness, provide theoretical basis for further nursing intervention,to improve the family life quality and promote recovery.METHODSThis study is a cross-sectional survey,a convenient sampling method was adopted.According to inclusion criteria,230 inpatient families were recruited from general surgery department,in a anonymous comprehensive tertiary hospital in Henan province from Octomber 2018 to Octomber 2019 for questionnaires survey, which was conducted among primary caregivers and secondary caregivers among230 selected patients' families using general demographic data questionnaires, family Resilience index(FHI),simplified coping style questionnaire(SCSQ)and social support rating scale(SSRS).Valid questionnaires were collected and sorted out to generate the original data via Epidata3.1 software. Then the data was imported into SPSS24.0 to conduct descriptive analysis on the average, standard deviation, frequency, and data comparison.Statistical analysis was also carried out using single factor analysis, regression analysis.A p-value of < 0.05 was considered statistically significant.RESULTS1.The family Resilience scale score of RCE patients' families was 44.86±5.67,which was at the middle level. The average score of commitment dimension was(20.43±2.58),the average score of control dimension is(12.4±1.76),and the average score of challenge dimension was(11.93±1.70).2.The coping styles of RCE patients' families were analyzed from positive dimensions and negative dimension. The positive coping style scored(25.4±1.93),which was relatively close to the maximum score;the negative coping style scored(8.97±2.38),which was at a moderate level.3.The social support scale score for RCE patients' families was 44.30±4.30,which was at the middlelevel.Among all the dimensions, the average score of objective support dimension was(11.60±1.67),the average score of subjective support dimension was(25.93±2.31),and the average score of supported utilization dimension was(6.76±1.32).4.Positive coping style, social support, and its three dimensions: objective support, subjective support, and utilization degree of support were positively correlated with the total family Resilience score and its dimensions among RCE patients' families(P<0.05);Negative coping styles were negatively correlated with the total family Resilience score and its three dimensions(P<0.05).5.There was statistical significance(P<0.05)when taking the total score of family Resilience as the dependent variable and the single factor analysis as the independent variable,Variables are the average monthly family income, age, education, job status and knowledge of the disease, active coping style, negative subjective support and objective support. The multiple linear regression analysis of the above variables showed that: education level, subjective support, positive coping style, objective support, and negative coping style entered the regression equation, explaining 64.6% of the total variation.CONLIUTIONS1.Patients with rectal cancer enterostomy have a low level of household toughness and low ability to respond to crisis.2.Positive coping style, objective support and subjective support are positively correlated with family Resilience, while negative coping style is negatively correlated with family Resilience.3.Educational level, subjective support, positive coping style, objective support, and negative coping style are the main factors that affect the family toughness of rectal cancer enterostomy patients.
